    Motorola MG7540-10 reviews

    MG7540-10 16x4 686 Mbps DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem with AC1600 Dual-Band Wi-Fi is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from GOOD MODEM WI-FI MAY NEED HELP Bough this modem to replace and stop paying the cable company rental fee. Modem is simple to set up of course it was not to friendly with the COMCAST. Still had to call since they had outages around the area the day I decided to change it over. This is an approved modem by COMCAST to use. Modem's Wifi is average and or may need to be configured better or who knows maybe the speed was slowed by Comcast since I longer have their modem. In any case I bought also a wifi range extender. Will see if it improves the downstairs signal strength. Liked the versatility of having ethernet connections on the back and also the on and off switch in case we go on long trips or to reset it rather than just unplugging it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent signal on wifi, easy setup (with one caveat) Replaced Spectrum/TWC Arris cable/wifi/modem. Great signal strength on the wifi. If you don't know what means, you should have this installed for you! The instructions are... scant. One issue: the modem I received, factory fresh and sealed, had been set up, and it took several calls to Motorola before they tried wiping it, and then it worked. (This is way beyond a factory reset.) Spectrum was really helpful! but it wasn't there problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, solid modem Modem is good, but the Wi-Fi coverage is about average.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good I just finished installing this so I cannot speak to long-term reliability. But I can say this was incredibly simple to set up, the price was good, and it's doing all it needs to do. Hopefully that continues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Upgrade from 2004 Motorola cable modem I've used a Motorola cable modem since I got cable internet in Florida in 2004. The Ethernet cable broke in 2014 but replaced for $3 with the identical model from a thrift shop. This year Mediacom, my ISP, said I must upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. Although it seems the manufacturing is owned by a different company, I trusted the Motorola brand. It was also on the list suggested by Mediacom. I chose a faster speed than required (and that Mediacom would have rented to me), for a little extra cost, it should be useful longer. Having built-in WI-FI replaces my aged Macintosh Airport plug-in Wi-Fi. I use Ethernet to go online. There is a button on the rear panel to turn Wi-Fi and something else off but it doesn't work, in my experience so far. My old modem had a Standby button so I could work offline. This is a concern for me since I use LibreOffice (open office software) that I haven't managed to convince that i'm a single-user so it hangs up waiting for the possible others out there on the web. If I open LibreOffice before opening a browser I'm OK. Due to other situations, I restart frequently, so I must respect the launching order. Frankly, I can't tell the difference in modems. I make and watch HD videos and do a lot of Facebook images and video. I'm on my computer all day, on and offline frequently. I haven't timed any downloads or uploads to my website or networking. I had no complaints before the ISP requirement. But I suppose all is well. It is easy to turn off when not in use. LED indicators are clear but non-intrusive. It is larger than my old one, but lightweight.
