ZVOX SB400 overview

  • 1Description

The ZVOX SB400 118W 3.1-Channel Soundbar is designed to deliver optimized sound with powerful bass reproduction. This speaker uses a class-D digital amplifier, and can produce up to 118W of total power for a dynamic audio experience. Housed inside of the aluminum chassis are three main speaker drivers and a built-in powered subwoofer. Built-in Bluetooth technology allows you to wirelessly stream audio from compatible devices such as smartphones and tablets.

The SB400 is well equipped for wired device connections with stereo RCA, TOSLINK optical, and digital coaxial interfaces. As an added convenience, stereo RCA and optical cables are included. Along with the included remote control, this soundbar system can be controlled using your existing remote.

Designed for Powerful Sound
The SB400 uses three high-performance speakers, a built-in powered subwoofer, an acoustically stable aluminum cabinet, and a 118-watt Class D digital amplifier to create warm, natural sound and surprisingly powerful bass.
Big Sound from a Small Cabinet
The SB400 uses the PhaseCue virtual surround system to give you rich, three-dimensional sound with movies or music.
Clear Voice Reproduction
The AccuVoice feature on the SB400 uses hearing aid technology to tailor the sound so voices are crystal-clear.
Slim Aluminum Cabinet
The SB400 features a 3.3"-slim cabinet constructed from anodized aluminum to provide low-resonance audio.
MegaBass
The MegaBass feature uses digital processing to tailor sound and control the subwoofer for robust, accurate bass with frequencies reaching as low as 58 Hz without an external subwoofer.
Bluetooth Music Streaming
The system uses an aptX Bluetooth receiver to stream high-quality music wirelessly from your phone, tablet, or computer. Play iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, or other music formats wirelessly through the SB400.
Uses Your Remote Control
The SB400 can be programmed to respond to your remote control. The illuminated display walks you through the process in less than a minute. Then whatever remote control you chose will control volume, mute, and power.
Taming Loud Commercials
Push the 'OL' button and a compression system takes over, making soft sounds louder and loud sounds softer, so there are fewer jarring moments when switching channels or when commercials come on.
Adapts To Multi-Zone Wi-Fi Audio
The SB400 has multiple inputs so you can easily connect audio devices in addition to your TV. For example, connect an optional Chromecast Audio device and you can use the SB400 as part of a multi-zone Wi-Fi audio system.

    ZVOX SB400 reviews

    SB400 118W 3.1-Channel Soundbar is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding sound quality and easy to install and set up This is my second purchase from the same manufacturer, which should tell you something without even reading further. A smaller unit sits under a television in the family room, and this new sound bar is mounted directly beneath a 60 television in the living room. The product is carefully packaged and super easy to install. It took less than 5 minutes to get it set up. I was even able to program my cable-provider's remote control to control the sound bar. The voice-enhance feature is tremendous, sound quality is as good as units costing far more, and the bass response is adequate without having to have an unsightly woofer box sitting somewhere on the floor. It comes with the necessary cables.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best soundbar ever I already had a ZVOX SB550 soundbar and I liked it. When the new ZVOX SB400 became available I read the great reviews and decided it was time for an upgrade. The SB400 has an aluminum enclosure and it's as solid as a rock. The sound is excellent and the Accu Voice feature emphasizes the vocal range so when you're listening to the news or a talk show, you can clearly hear what people are saying. My wife's hearing isn't as good as it used to be and with the SB400 she doesn't ask me to repeat what she didn't hear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ZVOX SB400 SOUNDBAR Decent Sound The Bedroom Purchased item for Bedroom TV due to issues with Existing Polk Audio SOUNDBAR /SUB listening in that environment. The ZVOX actually does the job quite nicely. The biggest issue with SOUNDBARS and SUB configurations are two fold. One the one hand the voices are not emphasized enough at lower volumes making it difficult to understand dialog . The Other end of the Spectrum is the Subwoofer although providing better bass response, usually is overpowering. This combination may be great for a one speaker budget friendly Media Room listening at moderate volume levels. But not for Bedrooms. The ZVOX has the Accu Voice setting that does a great job of amplifying the vocal frequencies allowing you to hear clearly those most important words. The SB400 has a Rock Solid, feel to it and is easy to see the Display. The Display actually goes out which is great, not drawing unnecessary attention to itself, during operation. There is a setting called Output Leveling that does a pretty good job of normalizing the volume levels thus reducing loud commercials compared to program volume. I have a 48 SONY LED TV that is connected via the Optical connection and Oh Yeah ! They even include the Optical cable for connecting Device. Well Done ZVOX!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ZVOX soundbar - good sound, easy installation I connected the ZVOX to my Sony/Bravia via the lightpipe (fiber cable), programmed the Sony remote and it all works great. Installation onto the wall was easy with the provided template. Sound is plenty loud and good. You might need to play around with the various tone controls to get your desired sound.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very good speaker with very frustrating wall mounting The sound is very good-4 star (comparable to the Soundbase I have on another TV), but ease of wall installation rates 1 star. Directions for wall installation are minimal. There are installation parts in the box which are not mentioned or identified anywhere in the directions (the purpose of some them were obvious even if not mentioned). There is no template for drilling holes and the method for mounting, which sounds simple, is really very poor since it requires very precise positioning of the holes in the wall (with no template!). If you are off by 1/16 the soundbar will not easily mount. Also the depth of the screws has to be precise (again no way to predetermine the correct setting) to keep the speaker from tilting downward. Much better to have a bracket mounted to the wall and hook and rail type system to attach the speaker. Also, the wires sticking out of the back of the speaker are up against the wall, so if wires from the TV above must be channeled behind the speaker, you must make sure they are in the correct place before mounting. Ultimately everything worked out well, but it took me 1/2 the time to mount the 55 TV on the wall than it did to mount the soundbar!
