Sony FE 1.4x Teleconverter Reviews

Adds Quality Reach to Sony Telephoto Lenses

Coming from APS-C I noted the loss of focal length on FF lenses and picked up the 1.4x Teleconverter to use with the Sony 100-400 and 200-600. It works well, there is the loss of light due to slower aperture and I'll have to keep that in mind in low light wildlife/nature situations, but it's small and powerful.

Was concerned about a reduction to sharpness in my photos. I rented one first to be sure I would be happy. Purchased the lens and it never leaves my camera. Just the reach I needed.

The 1.4x TV is a well build product. Works great with the 70-200mm and 200-600mm lens.

The adapter is compatible with Sony e-mount bodies but only certain e-mount lenses (e.g., Sony EF GM 100-400, Sony EF GM 70-200 f2.8). Check the Sony website to confirm the extender is compatible with your e-mount lens.

The Sony FE 1.4x Teleconverter, B&H # SOTC14, is specifically designed for use with the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS lens and the Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS lens. It is not compatible with any other lenses, and would not be compatible for use with the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Sony E.

Asked by: Manny
I am using one on the 100-400 and I like it. My idol Mark Smith uses one on his 600f4 prime with his A1 body. If it's good enough for Mark, it's good enough for me. I worried about loss of resolution but for an amateur it is fine. All my glass is sony with a A9.
