StarTech TBT3TBTADAP Reviews

Works great with Universal Audio gear on Windows

Bought this to connect a large Universal Audio rig to my new Windows DAW Workstation. Two 8 core UA Satelites, 2 Apollo 8p's, and and Apollo Twin mkii Quad, all Thunderbolt 2. Simply connected this to my workstation and the end of the Thunderbolt 2 chain to this and everything worked well.

Better than Apple

I've used the Apple adapter for a few years for a CRITICAL piece of studio equipment. After a recent Windows/Thunderbolt update to accommodate TB4, the Apple adapter caused many crashes. Replaced with this after hardware manufacture suggestion, and problems corrected. This is obviously built to a better standard, or etc. Could use a slightly longer lead from the converter box to reduce tension from the port.... it's a desktop, and the lead isn't long enough for the box to reach the floor. Otherwise, no complaints.

This would fully depend on the Asus Motherboard. Note that not all USB-C ports support Thunderbolt 3. If yours does, this StarTech Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt Adapter will be compatible.

question

I'm looking at a Display that has USB C connectivity, This display can handle video and data through it when connected to a 1 port USB type C Macbook. Would I be able to get display and data from the USB C port to a thunderbolt 2 equipped Macbook with this adapter?
Asked by: Anonymous
Displays with USB C connectivity (that are also not Thunderbolt 3 displays) most likely use the DisplayPort feature of USB-C, which is the same whether the source port is Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C. For your Thunderbolt 2 Macbook Pro, you should be able to use a Mini DisplayPort to USB-C cable or adapter. Thunderbolt 2 does not include USB data though. Your display with USB C connectivity may have an alternative method to receive USB data.
