A single-axis lens control system with room for expansion, the Single-Axis Wireless Follow Focus Express Basic Extreme Kit from Cinegears allows you to set up a wireless lens control system on your camera system, equipped with either a cine-style geared lens or lens that does not feature a focus gear. The kit comes with a 19mm rod clamp bracket and 19mm to 15mm adapter bushing, so you can mount the motor on either 15mm or 19mm support rods. The lens controller does not have physical hard stops; however, it does allow you to program focus stops, which you can use to define the end points of your lens.
Included with the kit is a customizable rubber gear that you can mount on a lens that lacks the necessary cine-style focus gear. The high-torque motor is suitable for use with large zoom lenses that require a powerful motor. It comes with a cine-style drive gear that can be swapped out when using ENG-style lenses with either Canon or Fuji-style gearing (replacement gears not included). The handwheel features a removable marking disc, and there are two marking discs in the kit. This basic kit fits into a waterproof case with foam inserts to protect your equipment during transport and while in storage.
Single-Axis Wireless Express Controller
The wireless controller features an internal LiPo battery that can run the controller for approximately 20 hours on a single charge. You can operate the controller while simultaneously charging it. Charging is via a Mini USB connector, and supported input voltage ranges from 12 to 30 VDC.
The controller supports auto calibration, manual calibration, and lens remapping.
After calibration, the end stops are automatically slightly shortened, preventing you from pinning the lens.
You can program focus pre-sets into the controller and then transition between the focus points at the push of a button with adjustable transition speed.
Manual calibration allows you to set close and far distance stops when using an infinitely rotating lens.
The motor is twice as strong as the Cinegears standard motor. This increased torque makes the motor suitable for driving large lenses. However, the increased torque does not result in a sacrifice of control, precision, or safety when using the motor.
The motor incorporates a wireless receiver that allows you to control it via your Cinegears Single-Axis Wireless Controller. An optional LANC cable/remote trigger is required for camera start/stop. An optional 2-pin LEMO cable is required to provide power to the motor.
Metal Drive Gear
The included aluminum 0.8 MOD gear fits cine-style lens gears. The gear is removable, so you can swap it out for optional gears for video lenses and non-standard lens gears. The gear's motor-facing surface is made from chrome-plated stainless steel, which matches the facing surface of the motor drive.
The motor will calibrate itself to your lens and allow you to remap the lens to your controller. You can program multiple stop points, which is especially useful when working with infinitely rotating lenses, or if you wish the set specific focus points on an optional focus handwheel.
The motor drive is reversible, which allows you to use lenses that focus in the opposite direction from standard without having to add a physical reversing gear.
