Elgato Systems Eve Energy overview

  • 1Description

Plug devices and appliances into the Eve Energy Wireless Power Sensor and Switch from Elgato to wirelessly control them from your mobile device. The switch is compatible with standard U.S. 3-prong outlets, and it provides 100 to 240 VAC of power to plugged-in devices. Directly connect the switch to your iOS smartphone or tablet through Bluetooth Smart technology, without necessitating a Wi-Fi connection, network hub, bridge, or any other gateway device. Additionally, you can easily manage the system with voice activation via Siri.

Each connected device can be assigned a custom name for easily navigating the interface, and devices can be grouped together so that they can be controlled simultaneously. View your current energy consumption at a glance, and generate energy consumption graphs for viewing your energy consumption by day, month, or year. When used with Apple HomeKit, the connection between Eve and your mobile device is secured with end-to-end encryption and authentication.

    Elgato Systems Eve Energy reviews

Eve Energy Wireless Power Sensor and Switch is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not working with HomeKit in IOS 10.1 During setup, it detected new firmware was needed, so it updated itself. That was great and went smoothly. Unfortunately, the device is unreachable to the IOS Home app or even the native Elgato Eve app. A very weird constant scrolling bug occurs in the UI of the Elgato app while it's apparently trying to reach the device. I'm sure this will get fixed with an update. But, if first impressions are everything, then this is a major fail. It's completely useless to me until an update comes around. Disappointed is an understatement.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed - a good idea, poorly executed It's OK when it works; it just doesn't work reliably. I purchased this product to control lamps in two separate rooms so that they would turn on and off automatically, but also could be operated manually, if necessary. The website that the manufacturer offers to manage the device is not intuitive and does not seem to work as intended. The device works better with the Home icon on my iPad, and I finally was able to set the on and off times. But the lamps don't always turn on or off at the set times. And if I try to turn them on by switching the setting from off to on (or vice versa), the manual operation isn't always possible because the device thinks the lamp is on (or off) already. It's almost as if the device thinks it's in a different time zone (but there is no way to set the time zone, so I can't be sure). Online customer support is non-existent. The support link just redirects me to a page that tries to sell me more devices. Very disappointing and frustrating.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Eve energy switch works as advertised I wanted to try out the Home app in iOS 10 and the Eve energy switch is a good choice. The Elgato app works well and the device easily integrates into the Home app on my iPad.
