The Vello FreeWave Fusion Basic 2.4 GHz Wireless Trigger System for Sony Multi Interface Shoe can be used as a remote for flashes. But the flash will only work in manual with the Sony A7C. And it can not be used as a remote shutter.

The Vello FreeWave Fusion Basic 2.4 GHz Wireless Trigger System for Sony Multi Interface Shoe (B&H# VEFWB24SMI) is incompatible with the Sony a6700 Mirrorless Camera (B&H# SOA6700) -- at least with the firmware of the a6700 at the time of its release. (It should be noted that we are not expecting an update to firmware to make it directly compatible with any USB-based remote, however, because with its recent cameras Sony has generally chosen to allow only WiFi, Bluetooth, and USB tethering as means of remote control for most of its cameras that do not have a micro USB port.) However, it is possible to trigger the shutter of the a6700 remotely from a computer or mobile device connected to it wirelessly, or to its USB-C port when operated tethered. By far the most popular option for remote control, however, is to use a Bluetooth remote, such as one of these:

Sony Multi-Interface hot shoe has a row of pins that, in other cameras, can potentiality be shorted and may cause the unit to not function correctly. I would instead recommend the Vello FreeWave Fusion Basic 2.4 GHz Wireless Trigger System for Canon, B&H # VEFWB24C, for use with older cameras with manual hot shoes.
