Vortex SPARC AR overview

  • 1Description

Get on target quickly with the Sparc AR Red Dot Sight from Vortex Optics. Utilizing a 2 MOA bright red dot, this nitrogen-filled, waterproof, and fogproof sight offers 10 brightness settings. It's compatible with Picatinny and Weaver rails, and features two height settings to make sure your red dot aligns properly with your back-up iron sights. All air-to-glass surfaces have multiple anti-reflective coatings for optimal light transmission. Rear-facing digital controls make it easy to control the brightness; the unit automatically returns to the last-used setting the next time it is powered up. It shuts down automatically after 12 hours to preserve the life of the AAA battery. The Sparc AR employs 1 MOA-per-click adjustments and can be adjusted up to 90 MOA for windage and elevation.

    Vortex SPARC AR reviews

1x22 Sparc AR Red Dot Sight is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Run this on my work rifle The original Sparc was my first Vortex product and the Sparc AR was a great upgrade to it. I've been running this optic on my work rifle for years and it has stood up very well. I've been in torrential downpours for hours and never seen any fogging or water inside the optic. It's received a beating in takedowns, entries, and in training and has always held zero. I've seen some reviews about the LED housing blocking the view, but I've never noticed it at all. The fact that it takes readily available AAA batteries is a deal maker! The price point also makes it hugely attractive to the average buyer. I currently have 3 or 4 on miscellaneous rifles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My EoTech is grainy, this is not. Bought this a few months ago for a new dedicated .22 build. Let's just say the EoTech stays at home. My glob doesn't get in the way, honestly I can't see it while looking down sights. I don't know what other people are talking about not taking it past 50 yards. Shot it out to 100 with a .22lr and was hitting bullseyes in the small 4 corner circles on a sighting target. Honestly I couldn't see the tiny diamonds and I had help from a friend and a spotting scope, but the middle one wasn't too bad to see. At 50 yards, it was too easy. Don't waste your money on "expensive" brands unless your active duty and climbing through war daily. For home defense and the range, it's a keeper.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best Value at $200 I have put a lot of research into purchasing an optic in the $100-$200 price range. After trying 3 or 4 without satisfaction I decided to wait for the Vortex Spark AR to hit the shelves. Easy to say I won't be looking for anything else. In my opinion the best red dot sight unless you are trying to spend Eotech or Aimpoint money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality Red Dot This new red dot optic is simply amazing, very easy to mount(w/o reading manual) all of the parts are high quality, the lenses are crystal clear as well as the MOA intensity, it even comes with a cleaning cloth. IMO the smaller 2MOA dot is the way to go and I really like how pronounced you can adjust it to. Unless you spend double the dollars for an Eotech or Trijicon, you can't beat this optic and Vortex backs it up with a lifetime warranty as well. I mounted this to my Windham AR15 and already have it zero'd in at 50 yards with my groupings pretty much on the money. Some complain about the rubber casing getting in the way but I have no issues at all, since I am right handed. What I really like is about this new optic is its slim design and that it uses a single AAA battery, much easier to swap out and more readily available. My only complaint would be the small torx screws required to mount the optic, If I lose the included wrench then I'm going to have to head to the store to find a fit for these tiny screws.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nicely Designed Red Dot I have been using this red dot on my AR for several months now and it has function well for me. The 2 MOA dot is a good compromise to quickly obtain close in targets and still have decent accuracy at 100+ yards. I like the use of the high mount space to house the battery. Using the common aaa battery is another plus and the automatic shut off feature is also nice. The integrated mount is solid and holds well. The snap together lens caps took a little getting used to but I now really like that feature. All and all this is a well designed red dot site at a very competitive price in a very competitive market. I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good for Price Point Overall I am happy with this sight, but there are a few things. 1. Dot "flares" when off the lowest brightness level. At a 100 yards this tends to obscure the target to the point where you can hit a 2" target, but you will be unable to be anymore accurate than that. 2. When the lowest brightness setting is selected there is indeed a dot, but it is so dim you have trouble focusing on it in all lighting conditions. At this price point the SPARC AR Red Dot is great for quick the acquisition needed for varmint hunting, but do not expect to be able to "Paint" the bullseye at much over 35-40 yards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shoot better I am so happy with this item, I am a better shooter because of it. Using this trained me to fire with both eyes open, and that has been a game changer on the trap range. sounds strange, I know. Seriously I couldn't be happier with this product the sight picture you get, the solid feel of it, really intuitive use, ease of installation and zeroing, all top notch. It took me about 8 rounds and 4 minutes to get this thing dialed in dead on. I'm ~1500 rounds into it's use over about 6 days at the range and one pretty hard drop from a friend's hands. It stayed zeroed 100%. Great product,I highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value optic This SPARC sits on top of my PCC. It is clearly meant to compete in the Aimpoint Micro, Trijicon MRO, style of sights, but comes in at a budget price compared to the others. This is quite evident when handling and using the optic. The adjustment buttons are cheap feeling, and the field of view is poor, meaning there is a lot of the optic housing in your view when looking through the optic. That said, the glass is clear, the dot is bright, the mount is solid. It all works, and it works well. You can't beat the value of this optic. I'll keep it on my PCC and keep blazing away!
