I tried a roll and getting head strikes, ...

I tried a roll and getting head strikes, sometimes not until halfway through the print. I print 48" pano's on my P800. Paper thickness 5; Platen Gap Wide. Epson tech said I had to "de-roll". Printing 4 ft pano's and having to "de-roll" doesn't seem right. Any suggestions?

Does that printer have a suction function to pull the paper flat? If not you may have to unroll the paper and allow it to flatten out. I had issues with that when I printed on my Epson 3200 with cut roll paper I finally had to unroll the paper and cover it with matt board and weight to allow it to flatten out Not what you wanted to here probably but that’s what I had to do
