Vanguard ENDEAVOR ED IV 1042 overview

  • 1Description

Building on the success of their earlier iterations, the Vanguard Optics 10x42 Endeavor ED IV Binocular gets upgraded with HOYA extra-low dispersion (ED) glass, phase-corrected SK-15 roof prisms, and their advanced MultiGuard optical coatings to improve light transmission, color rendition, clarity, and contrast while eliminating chromatic aberration. These updated technologies and materials, combined with an exceptional 65° wide apparent angle of view, work together to reduce the appearance of visible hand shake common in high-power binoculars to present an immersive observational experience on the trail, at the range, in the stadium, or sightseeing around town. To pick out feather and fauna details, the binocular boasts an impressive 5.9' close focus distance.

An open-bridge/dual-hinge design helps to reduce weight without sacrificing strength and provides a large surface area to improve grip strength and security. Textured rubber armoring offers protection from drops and impacts, while further improving the grip and comfort in the hand. Engineered for durability, the lightweight magnesium-alloy housing is O-ring sealed and nitrogen filled to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes and environmental conditions. The Endeavor ED IV provides the performance and comfort birders, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts require for long observation sessions in all weather.

Vanguard ENDEAVOR ED IV 1042 reviews

10x42 Endeavor ED IV Binocular is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great set of binoculars! I had been looking to purchase a new pair of binoculars for quite some time.  The two that I own give me trouble due to my eyesight (nearsighted with astigmatism plus the need for correction while reading) and their short eye relief, which prevents me from seeing much if I wear my glasses.  At some point, I happened upon the Vanguard ED series.  They had good reviews, and I had them in mind for a future purchase once I could afford them.  Along the way, they came out with this version (the ED IV), which I purchased last month. These binoculars have a heavy, quality feel about them.  They are more compact than both of my previous binoculars.  The focus knob is dead center between the two lenses and allows for fine tuning (some may not like how slow it moves, but I do).  The locking diopter adjustment knob means that I can dial in a setting to see without wearing my glasses; it comes reasonably close to correcting for my vision.  Better is the generous eye relief, which allows me for the first time to see a clear, uninterrupted view with my glasses on.  The eyecups can lock in one of three positions: entirely down for those of us wearing glasses, at the halfway point, and fully extended.  Nevertheless, the eyecups are made of a light molded plastic and are the only part of the binoculars that seem to be a little on the cheap side.  The view through the binocular is bright and sharp with minimal chromatic aberration. The lens caps and case are of high quality and protect the binoculars when they are not in use.  The strap connected to the binoculars has a padded section that feels nice on the back of the neck. My most recent trip to Maine’s Acadia National Park allowed me to give these a workout.  From Cadillac Mountain, I was able to see into the town of Bar Harbor and watch a school bus drop off children.  At Schoodic Point, I was able to view the buoys of lobster traps and several ducks swimming offshore from the rocks.  They made an excellent addition to the trip.
