    Brother ADS-2000E reviews

ImageCenter ADS-2000e High-Speed Desktop Document Scanner is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 120.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I wanted. I bought this scanner for home use. I wanted to convert paper records to PDFs for filing, storage and retrieval. I have an all-in-one printer, but that scanner is too slow for my purpose. I found this scanner in a Sam' Club sale circular. I research the comments about this scanner on several sites; the majority of the comments were very favorable. I bought this scanner about 2 months ago and had no trouble installing it. It took a few tries to figure out how to scan documents with this scanner, but it is very easy once you figure it out. I am scanning all new documents as they come in and I am about one-third of the way through the backlog. I am VERY pleased with my purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Great Scanner This scanner is a dream to use. I'm happy I got it. It scans directly to a USB drive. No computer needed. (Well, you need a computer to set up the how the scanner will scan to the USB drive.) I was able to scan all sizes of photos to the USB drive. It also scans documents -two sides at once or single sided. It came with Paperport 12 and a PDF program from Nuance Communications. I'm not a fan. the install overwrote my installed copy of Paperport 14 and did something to MS Outlook 2013. Nuance Communications support was UNHELPFUL, which is why this scanner only got four stars. Nuance said their software does NOT support Windows TEN.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love love love this scanner I bought this to use for massive photo task and has proved to be the best piece of equipment in my office. Amazing how much you can do that you struggled with before scan everything into files or emails, does photos flawlessly---huge time and cost savings. Seldom any issues (if I had one it was my own error) Wish I had done this a few years back when I first looked at them. Brother is hard to beat for ease of use and quality these days. Mac or PC

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs as expected... I archive a lot of my personal documents digitally and a flat bed scanner took too much time. I have a duplex scanner at work and wanted one for home but most brand duplex scanners are very pricey. The Brother ADS-2000 performs as well as the much priced scanner I use at work. I highly recommend this scanner for home use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well I know allot of scanners can scan a document, but what I like about this scanner is the software. I have found the software very easy to use. I like the ease of placing the documents where I need them. I have found that you do not need a degree in computer engineering to make this thing work. The small footprint of the printer means it fits out of the way on my desk. This is a very good desktop scanner. Great job.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great product when it works like it is supposed to When it works properly, it is fast and the scan is clear and crisp. However, I have had intermittent problems with long delays (10-15 minutes) between hitting the scan button and the scan actually beginning, or once the scan is complete it can take 5-10 minutes for the scan to reach the file. I have been in contact with Brother on this. They said they would have a rep contact me to discuss. I could not talk to them the first time they called, they scheduled another call but the call never came.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could be better This is not a bad little scanner. There are a couple of things that would make it better though. I have to scan receipts and to keep them organized, I tape them to a piece of paper. This scanner will not allow me to scan that piece of paper. It gives an error of "multiple pages". Also, I have to keep uninstalling and installing the drivers because the top part of a page gets cut off after being used for a while.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not competitive Having worked with a Fujitsu and a Kodak scanner for years, I have to say that this scanner is not competitive, other than on price. The included document management software is slow and, I think, useless. The scanning software itself is awkward and requires you to name the file BEFORE the scan or accept its default name and then you can hunt down the file and move it and rename it. This is the PRIMARY reason not to buy the machine. It is simply awkward to work with the software and it takes more time to mess with the file naming than other machines. In fact, any time you save because the scanner may scan more pages faster is lost again because of needing to mess with where you'll want the scan filed and what you want the name to be. Now, if all you want is to be able to scan a bazillion documents into one folder and then go back later and sort them out and rename them, this might be okay for you. Or if you are going to scan and then use the enclosed, very slow document mgmt software to add properties or create a filing index, this may also work for you. But if you want to continue using a simple Windows Explorer-based folder and file system with identifying file names, you will find this machine maddening.
