The Mercury Elite Pro Dual 2-Bay USB 3.0 RAID Enclosure from OWC / Other World Computing is a versatile system that can speed up data transfers as well as keep your data safe and secure. It has two bays designed for 3.5" SATA III drives, easily configured in multiple RAID modes at the flick of a switch. With hardware RAID and a RAID 0 configuration, it can deliver data transfer speeds up to 388 MB/s, fast enough for HD video, large files, and more. Other RAID configurations include RAID 1, SPAN, and Independent, or otherwise known as JBOD (just a bunch of disks). Connect this device to your system via USB 3.0 and FireWire 800, and use its drive activity LEDs to quickly check its status. Furthermore, intelligent power management will keep your energy consumption low and reduce drive wear by automatically spinning down the drives when inactive.

Mercury Elite Pro Dual 2-Bay USB 3.0 RAID Enclosure is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expectations Met I bought this as a replacement for a similar product from a different company that never lived up to expectations. I was simply looking for a RAID 1 setup that worked right out of the box with minimal setup, ran quietly, and performed. I have not owned this for very long, but thus far it is exactly what I needed. I am very pleased with this. Probably more so because it is such a pleasure to have over what I was dealing with before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong Value. Very happy with this. Surprising easy to get up & running & is fast & reliable so far. Need time to know more but drives of course are a big part of the equatiion. Using it as a USB 3.0 drive on a network

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fan issues, not the most observant support As an enclosure that holds two drives and transfers data, it works fine. The cooling fan however... Overall, I've had good luck with OWC products. Whenever I've had an issue, their service has generally been pretty good. However, the fan on my particular unit started grinding intermittently, and that grinding eventually turned into a howl. Bad bearings, I imagined. Of course, I was a few months out of warranty at this point, so I wanted to see if they had replacement fans for sale; you can remove and replace it pretty easily... or so I thought. They do sell replacements, but they're nearly impossible to find on their web site. So, once I found them, I purchased two, just in case. Fans arrive, open everything up to start swapping out, and I notice that the replacement fans have a two-pin connector to the power. Well, the board has a three-pin connector... sigh. So, I contact OWC. Explain the issue. They apologize, say that they do have the right fans, and point me to the right ones, and I buy two of those. I ask if they have three-pin connectors, and I'm assured they do. Fans arrive, open them up... do they have three-pin connectors? Nope. Two-pin. At this point, I have little faith in OWC's support staff. I'm searching online, trying to find a source for the three-pin connector fans. Finding none, I snip the connector from the old fan, jury-rig it to the new fan. Meanwhile, I'm trying to attach the fan back to the plastic (the only plastic bit on the case) clip-in mount, but the screws won't tighten. Lift the fan up, and see that the walls of the screw mounts have cracked. Both of them. So there's no way to screw the thing back into place. I wind up electrical-taping the fan to the mount to try to hold it in place as best as possible. Get it all put back together, verify that the fan is spinning, and all is good... until the new fan starts whining a bit five minutes after finishing the "repair" job...
