    ORCA OR-9 reviews

OR-9 Video Camera Bag is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the DVX200 Though it is a bit pricy, the OR-9 is everything claimed by ORCA. There is plenty of room for the camcorder, monitor/recorder, spare batteries and even my shotgun mic and wireless mic kit. Extremely well made with plenty of cushioning to protect my gear. I especially like the backpack type straps which I have used when working in wilderness areas. It is really nice when a product meets and exceeds all of your expectations like this bag does.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK, but I recommend a doctor style bag instead Nice design, but I don't care for the way it zips up and opens. Too cumbersome for me, so I wish I purchased a doctors bag style bag for my camera. Build quality is OK, but the materials used don't inspire confidence. One nice feature is the straps that convert this into a backpack.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid bag...but. It's a very nicely made piece, however for my particular setup with the Panasonic DVX200, it does not offer the room I need. It will fit the camera without issue, but if you have other things attached such as a Sennheiser EW 122P wireless pack on the shoe and a Sennheiser ME64 in the mic holder, you will have to take them off every time you put them in the bag. The camera will only fit in one way if you use one of the dividers to cushion the lens hood because the bag is tapered. If you put the EVF toward the shorter end, the top won't close...so you have to turn your camera around which isn't a big deal -- but again, too short if you have things mounted on the top. My other issue, and this is a weird one, but for the amount you spend on this case, they could definitely afford something more than cheap chinese cardboard...you know the kind that looks like everything you bought at Harbor Freight for $10. From the looks of the box, it appears to have been drug 30 miles across a warehouse floor on every side underneath a forklift and left to sit in a puddle of oil which soaked all the way through to the bag, essentially transferring to the bag itself. Cardboard aside, the bag is decent and very solid, however I may have to find something a bit taller. You could easily put a large shotgun mic on the side, a few filters, wireless pack, batteries, charger and cables in the bag...maybe I'm being too picky as the camera rarely travels, but it would be nice to just pull it all out ready to go. Without actually seeing the product up close, it's sometimes difficult to judge if it's the right one for you. If having accessories mounted to the camera isn't an issue to you, this is a great bag.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from OK bag Overall, this bag does what you'd expect. The design is pretty, but lacks many features. There are only two adjustable dividers inside, while every other camera bag I own has many more dividers. The hinge cover is a drag to deal with every time I open the case, as it takes up a lot of room to fully open. The end of the lid, farthest away from the hight sort of collapses into the bag. I'm not sure if this is by design, or if I got a bad sample, but this makes it hard to operate the zippers. In retrospect, I wish I purchased a case that opens more like a doctor's bag. The side pockets are extremely thin and can only hold a few papers. You might slip a thin manual inside them, but not much else. The arm strap seems adequate, and the shoulder pad is fine. There are two side handles that attach together, that are joined by some velcro. Its a convoluted system that takes time to deal with and I suspect the velcro will soon loose its gripping power. Not a smart design. The bag includes some hidden straps to use the bag as a backpack. Unfortunately, they are very poorly padded. The bottom of the bag is very uncomfortable on your back if you are only wearing a shirt, so do not buy this bag if you intend to use it for occasional hikes! The bag has a lot of interior space, but much of the space seems wasted. I end up stacking stuff on top of stuff, which I could easily do was a gym bag. The amount of padding is minimal, and I don't feel this bag really offers much protection. After owning the bag for only 1 week, the exterior material has already started to ripple and may be peeling away from the interior shell. So, I'm not confident that this bag will hold up to heavy use...time will tell. I had looked at a couple of the Cinebags and thought they were overbuilt. Wish I bought one of them instead...
