Think Tank Photo Retrospective 6 overview

  • 1Description

Keep your mirrorless or DSLR camera body, multiple lenses, tablet and accessories in the Retrospective 6 Shoulder Bag from Think Tank. For the photographer needing to carry a mirrorless or DSLR camera, several lenses, and accessories, this bag easily carries your gear and related accessories. An expandable front pocket fits an 8" tablet or notebook. Included sub-dividers and collapsible interior pockets are ideal for organization and added protection to your camera body and lenses. The bag is designed to be wider at the top, measuring at a full 13" for quick retrieval of your gear. The bag tapering to a smaller measurement at the bottom to help minimize any unwanted bulk. A dedicated organizer pocket on the inside of the bag keeps pens from getting lost, and necessities like batteries, chargers, and a wallet within easy reach. For even quicker access, keep important small items in the wide, rear zippered storage pocket.

Sound silencers eliminate opening noises, especially useful when photographing a wedding or in quiet venues where you would prefer not to draw attention to yourself. A messenger style flap covers the opening of the bag and provides an added level of protection from wandering eyes and inclement weather. An adjustable shoulder strap with a cushioned non-slip pad ensure your bag will be comfortably worn over one shoulder or cross-body. Alternatively, a removable carrying handle allows you to carry the bag as a briefcase. Webbing loops built into the outside of the bag accommodate modular pouches or a carabiner or two while a seam-sealed rain cover protects your gear one step further when caught in the rain or snowstorm.

Think Tank Photo Retrospective 6 reviews

Retrospective 6 Shoulder Bag (Sandstone) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag for Mirrorless cameras, perfect size Picked this bag up directly from the manufacturer. Had the Retrospective 5 as well as the 7 before. The 5 is a great bag for smaller Mirrorless cameras but there were times I wished it had a little more space. Plus it's small enough to look like a purse at times. The 7 is larger but can be too tall for smaller lenses that just sink in. For years II hoped for a in between, and now it's here. It can fit the E-M1 with 12-40 attached and hood in shooting position and still has 1/2 inch of clearance. I set mine up to have lens partitions on each side so I can hold 4 more lenses without stacking them in top of each other. Best of all I can hold the E-M1 either in landscape or portrait orientation, I prefer portrait since I can reach in and grab the camera quickly. I verified with Think Tank that it can also 40-150 as well. If you look at the product photos it can also hold pro dslrs like the 1DX.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smaller than advertised Interior dimensions specified as 13W x 5.3D x 7.5H. I assumed it could contain an object with those dimensions. Instead, the inside width is 11.5 measured at the bottom of the bag (the outside is 12). ThinkTank's customer service response is that they measure their bags at the top opening, not the inside bottom, to let customers know that a full size DSLR will fit. Which doesn't address the 11.5 vs. 13 width discrepancy. If not for this issue, I would have given the bag 5 stars. B&H graciously accepted a return.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Who's a good boy! Who's a good boy! Good size bag. Good design. Good material. Good strap, good inserts, good flap/cover system, good low profile but functional handle... good boy.... good boy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally found a shoulder bag that works! I have finally found a shoulder bag that works for me! I have gone through countless brands and models looking for a shoulder bag. The Retrospective 6 is perfect for my needs. I am able to fit my X-T1 with the battery grip and the 18-55mm mounted, my 23 f/2, 35 f/2 and 50 f/2 lenses, 2 Godox TT350F speedlights, the X-t1 trigger and my spare X-T1 body. This bag is made great and looks like a man bag, not a camera bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best compromise between size and available space Workes great for my Nikon D610 with 2 lens 35mm/1.8G and 85mm/ 1.8G, and 70-300mm with SB 800 flash, filters, batteries, etc. Provides quick and easy access to the camera, truly shooter's bag. It's definitely tight for everything I had, but overall is the best combination of access, size vs available space. Compared against 9 other bags; too small, too big, too cumbersome - kept this one as a winner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stealth photo bag for mirrorless kit Good for travel, urban settings
    Date published: 2016-08-16
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bag from ThinkTank for Sony A7r2 Great shoulder bag from ThinkTank for mirror-less kit: Sony A7r2 with Batis 2/25 attached with Sony FE 1.8/55 and Batis 2.8/135 on either side. Lots of room for batteries, memory chip folder, Black Rapid sling shoulder strap and other accessories for a total weight of 8.2 pounds. It's a tight fit, but the Batis 2.8/18 could go on top of the FE 1.8/55 for an additional 13.4 oz; however, a ThinkTank Chimp Cage on a belt could be a better choice for carrying additional lenses.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from just not tall enough for any lens longer that a kit zoom the materials, fit, & finish are awesome, but it's size renders it useless to me. the interior compartment is just too shallow to use as a camera bag except with the most compact camera/lens combos. a 80D with the 18-135 lens & hood attached does not fit. only suitable for a small mirrorless kit, but then the rest of the bag is probably too large for your needs i think the retrospective 7 is better & more practical in every way
