    Polaroid PLMRFU reviews

Universal Macro LED Ring Flash is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems pretty decent. I bought this primarily wanting to use it on my Sigma art lens- which has an 82mm filter thread. Sadly, the light ring won't attach to something that large (I think it's set up for a 77mm max). So, I had to add a combination of 77-82, 82-77 step up/step down rings to create a tube extension that the light clips could grab onto. It works, but it's not optimum as I am essentially now shooting about 75% of the frame with huge vignetting on either side. The light/flash seems to work well, but haven't actually shot with it yet to see how large the images will actually be. Still looking for a better solution to this problem, but I think it just won't work on this lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for macro work. It provides nice even illumination when the camera is close to your subject. Lots of options on intensity or one sided illumination.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great for macro work In my set-up I use the macro ring light in combination with a flash for insect and flower photography. The ring light helps to improve even illumination and I also use it for macro video for which it is excellent. I realized after using the light for a while that it is extremely helpful with fosuing (for macro photography) since often the natural light is too weak to clearly see the details on the camera screen. This light is not a flash, and I don't need it for that purpose since I have a small TTL flash attached above the front of the macro lens. So I use the two in combination with excellent results. One can not expect a permanent light like this ring light to have the same force as a flash, which, if you think about it, in order to throw off such a strong light, usually needs a few seconds to build up the flash charger. But for a permanent light and especially for macro photography this is excellent and beats all solutions I had tried before. I recommend this light to anyone who is interested in macro photography.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It lights but sucks batteries The Good: It is a ring light and brightens the subject well enough. Simple enough to use. The Bad: Battery drainage is really bad! Went through 8 fully charged batteries in less than 3 hours. The on/off is touchy. You really got to hold it down for a long time to turn on or off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value! I bought this recently for my wife's use with her Pentax K-50 or K-70 camera bodies, and preliminary testing with continuous or flash lighting shows this unit is a bargain at 1/10th the cost of the Pentax ringflash. Recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Generally quite good Worked really well with fujifilm mirrorless camera, but would not work in live mode on my Canon 7D. Another problem is the absence of a locking ring for 58mm lens
