Gerber designed the Silver Trident Double Serrated Fixed Blade Knife with the rigors of deployment in mind. They chose 154CM stainless steel for the blade because of its hardness rating of HRC 59-61 and edge retention qualities. The 6.2" blade is sharpened on both sides and has a spear point for its piercing abilities. Each side features a different serration pattern. One is designed for harder materials such as wood or light gauge metals, and the other side is well-suited to cutting softer materials such as rope. The blade is coated in a reflection-limiting black matte finish to aid in concealment and helps prevent corrosion.
The handle is constructed of dual-density Hytrel for resistance to heat, UV light, and chemicals. The interior has a hard version of the compound for strength. The exterior has a soft, textured version for grip control. You can use the stainless steel butt cap as a hammer in a pinch. It comes with a ballistic nylon sheath for storage or transport. Gerber proudly manufactures this knife in their Portland, Oregon manufacturing facility.
