Utilizing a patented assisted-opening system developed by knife maker Butch Vallotton, Gerber's F.A.S.T. Draw Folding Knife makes an ideal EDC tool for most general-purpose needs. F.A.S.T. stands for "Forward Action Spring Technology" and employs an internal torsion spring that pulls the blade fully open after the blade is partially deployed. The blade is made of high-carbon stainless steel in a partially-serrated drop point configuration. Dual thumb studs enable easy operation with either hand.
This knife also employs a novel dual lock system. A secondary safety locks the blade closed or open for additional security, with a primary liner lock to securely set the blade in the open position. To close the blade is a button release which makes it easier to manipulate with gloves on versus conventional liner locks.
