Containing the necessary chemicals to make a fast-acting, high contrast black and white film developer, this Substitute for D-19 from Photographers' Formulary contains enough chemistry to make 33.8 oz / 1 l of working solution. Originally designed for use with x-ray materials, this solution is also ideally suited for developing aerial, technical, high resolution, spectroscopic, and high speed infrared films or plates. It is also suitable for processing general panchromatic films when high contrast, higher-than-average grain, and increased film speed is desired. It is a clean working, non-straining developer for use in tanks or trays.

Chemical Contents
The following chemicals are included in the kit, and should be added to water in order make a working solution:
  • 2g of metol
  • 90g of sodium sulfite
  • 8g of hydroquinone
  • 52.5g of monohydrate sodium carbonate
  • 5g of potassium bromide

Great developer, but I wish that PF would be less secretive about what's in the box exactly, how to mix it, how it works with some standard films, etc etc. I have to find all information from 3rd-party sources online. So I'm taking off one start for that. Otherwise, great developer.

How many rolls of 35mm film can be developed with a 1-liter solution?

If this is undiluted, I have run through 6 rolls of film. If you have developed less than six and want to keep it for the other two, I would not wait more than 1-2 weeks before it's past its prime.
