A fast, versatile prime, this 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens from Sigma is designed for use with APS-C-format Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. The bright f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also affords extensive control over depth of field for using selective focus techniques. The optical design features a pair of aspherical elements, along with one high-refractive index element, which significantly reduce spherical aberrations and distortion for increased clarity and definition for notably sharp image quality. Also, a Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to control lens flare and ghosting in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, benefitting both stills shooting and video recording, this compact prime also incorporates a stepping AF motor for smooth, near-silent autofocus performance.

Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Reviews
I'm using this lens, paired with a Sony a6100 body, as a webcam and it is fantastic and exactly what I was hoping for. Build quality is great. Highly recommended.
Perfect for my Sony a6000, great auto focus and is just the ideal size.
Just about my favourite focal length (45mm-ish), this is fast, quiet, and not as heavy as you would expect. The DOF was wonderful and it's still quite sharp at 1.4 (wide open) with great C/A control and beautiful bokeh. The absence of an aperture ring and full-weather sealing are the only things I dislike, but it's not a deal breaker. I got this on sale and it's worth every penny. I've got pretty much all the other Fujifilm primes, the 16-55 2.8 and this holds its own with all of them.
Beautiful little lens
I bought this for my S5, so I believe it's shooting APSC on a Full Frame, so this looks closer to a 50mm on my camera if I'm correct (???). This is a great little lens. Focus is sharp, great lowlight, and good autofocus for what the S5 can do. Build quality is up to snuff and it's not too heavy. I've only gotten to shoot a few things with it but so far I am very pleased. I've used a lot of different lenses but I've never tried a Sigma, so I was very excited to get this. The only thing stopping me from completing the set is that I'm going for cine lenses. I'm not a huge fan of autofocus/photography lenses but I wanted to try one. If you want a good L-mount lens for a modest price you can't go wrong with these lenses. But if you want something a little more adaptable try something else.
Great First Autofocus Prime
The sharpness, build quality, and size is awesome for me. And the low aperture gives you an amazing variety of artistic options!
sharp lens for both video and still photography
This lens is awesome. It gives all the bokeh you could want and then some (it's too much sometimes, and I don't use the maxed-out 1.4 as often as I thought I would). Besides that, it creates incredibly sharp images and amazing depth in colors and blacks. I will definitely be purchasing the 16mm and 56mm variants of this lens as well, but if you're going to get one of them, get this one first! It's incredibly versatile and the best bang for the buck.
A must have for apsc cameras!
It's a lens you must have in your bag, ideal for low light photography and great for portraits.
One of my favorite lenses
I first bought this lens for my canon m50 and liked it so much I bought it again for my Fujifilm x-s10. It has great build quality, is sharp and well worth the money. The only thing it's missing for the x mount is the aperture ring but I can live without it.
