New glasses

I am a beginner when it comes to photography and video and i've never owned a high end, sharp, fast aperture glass before and that's exactly what this is. I purchased this and the song zv e10 to upgrade my content creation for social media and man! What a difference. Many are commenting asking what the set up is and I can't point them directly to this lens. I just ordered the 16mm as well because the 30 mm is a little tight for my set up but for portrait and shots outside you can't beat it. My next upgrade is the sigma 56 and I'll then have the trio of all lenses I need! The shipping was super fast as well.

Sharp (when it achieves focus)

A great little lightweight lens with a wonderful focal length. Excellent image quality but in my experience shooting weddings with an X-T2, it isn't reliable in low light compared with my fuji-brand primes. It struggles to land focus and in my line of work, this makes the difference between moments seen and moments missed. When it does achieve focus though, it's sharp, even at 1.4. If you're a slower shooter than I am and work mostly in daylight, this lens is worth the price (especially with the rebate).

Makes me look good

Being brand new to photography, I didn't want to spend $1000.00 on a new lens just to find out that it doesn't make me any better. HOWEVER, what I found, is that for me, this prime lens is exactly what I needed! This lens completely changed my thoughts on photography, it is light and airy, as well as being fairly compact on my camera (Fujifilm X-S10). I have been using it for portraits with a great background, have even received quite a few compliments on my recent photography adventures! Moral of the story, I would HIGHLY recommend this lens. I would love to try the fujifilm 35mm F/1.4 to compare!

First Rate Optics

There are a lot of budget lenses with optical compromises and reviewers tend to focus on the price and minimize the defects. The Sigma 30mm f1.4 has spectacular MTF numbers, very small amounts of distortion, and all around profession level optical properties that outclasses lenses costing 5-6 times more. This is the best performance/cost glass that I have ever owned. I have been a photographer for 50 years and in my work use research-grade microscopes.

Fantastic for portraits in low light

I have a Leica Summicron-TL f/2 for my Leica CL, but wanted an even faster lens for portraits in low light. I considered the Summilux f/1.4, but couldn't find even a used one for less than about $1600. I finally decided on this Sigma L-mount model, and it's given me fantastic low-light capability.
