Nissin i60A Reviews

Great flash for Fujifilm

By John

I bought this flash (and the commander) to explore flash photograph with the Fujifilm line of products. The instructions are just a little confusing, but on camera the flash is easy and intuitive to use, and pairing it with the commander is also really easy. It's got a great amount of power for a speed light too! My only minor complaint is that the unit does not remember when I have muted it, ie, when it turns off and back on, it will go back to beeping rather than staying quiet.

Well built and Great features.

Small flash with a big punch

I love the Nissin i60 with all my Sony cameras. I have an a7r3, a73, and 6500 and use the Nissin with each of them. They are flexible, light, and easy to use. Highly recommended for Sony!

Not really compatible with Nikon Z7

This flash always gives me way overexposed photos in TTL mode when pairing with my Nikon Z7, If I used bounce flash in TTL mode, it is working fine. I did try put it on my Nikon DF and it seems to work fine, so it might just be the compatibility issue with Z7.

Compact and Powerful

This is for the Nikon version. The flexibility to adjust the flash parameters on the Nissin in an easy to read and understand way is a major strength of this flash. Delighted with the small details; built in diffuser, lcd and analog inputs, pull out deflector and so on. Highly recommended!

I bought TWO....

I bought two of the i60a's along with the Air 1 Commander to use with my Fuji X-T2 off camera. I've only used the combination twice but can say they are very well built and simple to use. They are easy to sync and it takes just seconds. They do everything as advertised! I converted from Canon 5D3 and all "L" lenses about 3 years ago and have never looked back. The only shortfall with Fuji was lack of good FLASH.. And with this product those days are history. They function as advertised. Unload those heavy old Nikon's and Canon dSLR's and get on board the Fuji mirrorless train.. I just sold 2 Canon 600 EX RT's back to B&H plus a 580 and 430.. My Canon drawer is empty and Fuji drawer full and these Nissin Flashes and trigger completes the deal.. Buy them - you won't regret it..

Used with the Nissin Air10 wireless Commander and works commendably well for a relatively compact flash unit. Good for bird shooting , but limited to 200 mm lens.

B&H's description of flash GN makes it hard to ...

B&H's description of flash GN makes it hard to compare flashes. For example, one flash will have a GN of 131 at 105mm and another a GN of 197 at 200mm (ISO 100 in both cases). Which is more powerful? B&H Explora offers no guidances on this issue. B&H should standardize GN specs so shoppers can make a proper comparison.

Nissin includes the i60A Guide Number information below in the product manual. Please note the guide numbers below represent the distance in meters. question

I notice that the availability of this i60a has changed from 26th July to Coming Soon . Is there a more accurate estimate for availability?
Asked by: Chris H.
They are now saying October 1st. Since Fuji is releasing a new flash of their own (the EF-X500) on 9/8 they probably forced Nissin to push the Fuji version of the i60 back. There's still no word on if an Air Commander trigger will be available for the Fuji model of i60, which is probably another reason for the delay.

question

I have the Fuji X-T2 on pre-order and I own the X-T1 and X-T10. Will the i60 be capable of high speed sync in TTL mode on any of these three cameras?
Asked by: M Jerry
No, it will not work in High speed sync on any Fujifilm camera at the moment in manual or TTL.

question

And if I read this correctly (and I'm pretty sure I did) this new and improved flash still does not support wireless TTl functionality for Fuji. Is that right? Does anyone know when Fuji is going to get it together and make flash a priority?
Asked by: Tom
This flash is capable of wireless slave TTL functionality using either Nissin's Air System with a range of 98' or Fujifilm's optical slave capabilities.

question

Does this Nisson i60A (fujifilm) have to latest updated firmware to work with the Fujifilm X-T2 ?
Asked by: Vincent L.
Nissin states that the Nissin i60A Flash for Fujifilm Cameras currently available should have the latest firmware to work with the Fujifilm X-T2 Mirrorless Digital Camera. However, there has not been a firmware update yet released for High Speed Sync at this time.

question

Can you please confirm if Nissin i60a to Fujifilm is already activing the Hight Speed on the Fujifilm cameras? My question, is because i have a i60a and don't active hight SPEED in my Fuji X-T2 and X-Pro2. I read that Nissin is updating the i60a firmware already sold so they can activate the function on Fujifilm cameras. The Flash that you are selling are already updated and therefore with Hight SPEED being activated on Fujifilm cameras ? I want to buy two Flash i60a with you and I need to make sure that this time the models that I will receive will be running Hight speed sync.
Asked by: Isaas Oliveira P.
Nissin has said they will update customers when an update has been created and finalized for their products.
