Rated 5 out of 5 by from The photography community needs to take notice! I stumbled across this plate while looking for something specifically shaped for the MB-D16. I came here to buy the RRS plate. On a whim I decided to do a search and see what else was out there. When I found this plate, I figured I'd read more about it.. build quality looked alright, but I'd never heard of the company. I went around online and did some reading, found some blog posts and reviews about their flash brackets and rigging hardware. Everything seemed very positive, but I couldn't find much detail on their Arca plates. Normally I don't purchase things I can't read about or put my hands on. So, despite all of the nice features and over all pleasant design (and price) I tossed the RRS plate in my cart and went about my shopping trip. It was about an hour later when searching for a replacement for my shoulder strap that I came across another ProMediaGear product. They have an over the shoulder strap to compete with the black rapid, only instead of relying on a clip and a screw on connection, the ProMediaGear device uses a detent pin connection that clicks in to the big hole on the center of the arca plate. Instantly I became equal parts intrigued and skeptical. While I'm familiar with the possible strength and resiliency of detent style connections, I find it hard to ever trust anything that's supposed to support my camera besides my own hands. On their website, they have videos of staff members hanging off of these straps, with an arca plate screwed in to a piece of wood and it supported all the weight of some pretty good sized dudes. I purchased the plate and the strap in the same order, and I couldn't be happier. The build quality on all parts of the system is fantastic. Every edge is beautifully finished, and the connection between the strap and the camera has a really positive click and there is no slop. I know arca plates and camera straps aren't sexy, but I can't believe this isn't all over the forums and blogs yet. The quality of the whole system is astounding, this company is going to end up right next to RRS and 3 Legged Thing.
