question

Will it work with Mac OS Thunder3? I have 2017 IMac and 2 Seagate 2GB HDDs.
Asked by: Max M.
Yes, but mostly No. Out of the box it will not work with MacOSX as the enclosure will not mount and the thunderbolt chipset is Windows only. Akitio support informed me that there was no workaround in the works to fix the compatibility issue. There is a Khaos script that i've used that allows it to be recognized in MacOSX however each and every time you update MacOS you have to reinstall that script. Installation is hit and miss. Suffice it to say that after 6 months of troubleshooting I finally went for a new Akitio Raid Station that's MacOSX compatible out of the box. Meanwhile, the Duo Pro is sitting here in the box if I ever need to connect to a Windows box.....unlikely. Good Luck

question

Does this work with Boot Camp? This Akitio apparently does not:<a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1148079-REG/akitio_ak_t2dp_thu3iaa_aktu_thunder2_duo_pro.html target= _blank >http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1148079-REG/akitio_ak_t2dp_thu3iaa_aktu_thunder2_duo_pro.html</a>
Asked by: Erik P.
The Akitio Thunder3 Duo Pro 2-Bay RAID Enclosure is not compatible with the Mac OS at this time. The Akitio Thunder2 Duo Pro is fully supported if using Mac OS 10.9 or newer. (Including Boot Camp)

question

what is in the box?
Asked by: jimmy c.
The box contains two SATA connections that you would normally have on the inside of a large desktop computer. But this lets you hook them up externally to with Thunderbolt 3 for mass data storage to a small device (e.g. Intel NUC) while passing the signal though to another device (e.g. External GPU), both while pluging everything into just one connection to the computer at 40 Gbps.
