Create an environment for your HP ZBook 17 G3, 15 G3, or Studio G3 that reduces clutter, improves device, display, and network connectivity, while simultaneously charging your system with the ZBook Thunderbolt 3 Dock from HP. This dock will support up to 10 simultaneous devices through its various ports, including one USB Type-C port, three USB 3.0 Type-A ports, one USB 3.0 Type-A charging port, one Gigabit Ethernet port, two DisplayPort 1.2 ports that support up to two UHD/4K displays, one VGA port, and one 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo audio jack port. It supports 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 and external device charging up to 15W, and the USB Type-C interface also supports DisplayPort 1.2 and Thunderbolt 3, the latter of which features bi-directional transfer speeds up to 40 Gb/s.

In addition to the ports listed above, there is also a security lock slot that supports HP cable locks and HP dual head cable locks, a 4.5mm power connector for the 200W AC adapter, and a Thunderbolt 3/power cable connector which not only connects to your system's Thunderbolt 3 interface, but also simultaneously charges your ZBook, so long as as the dock itself is powered using its AC adapter.

Please bear in mind that your mobile workstation must support Thunderbolt 3 to enable the docking station. The docking station and monitor must support USB Type-C, USB 3.0, and DisplayPort 1.2 to benefit from the speeds or features that these technologies provide. If one of the devices does not support these technologies, you will still have USB 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.1 functionality.

The HP ZBook Thunderbolt 3 Dock is small enough to fit in a briefcase and take with you while on-the-go. Included with this dock is a Thunderbolt/AC power cable and a 200W AC adapter. It is protected by a limited 1-year warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it Great product and it works as is designed with the Zbook 17 G3 .Prior connecting with the computer I updated Bios and other Firmware as was requested . There are two monitors connected with the Dock which I use for Photoshop and other photography applications and never had any issue . In case you disconnect and connect a monitor with the computer turned on the monitor will flicker and will not work but if you restart the computer or connect the monitor while having the computer off it will work perfect . The monitors I have connected are calibrated each one in different color space and still working without issues and this Thunderbolt 3 Dock has resolve everything for me .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Big expectations, not fully satisfied. Because i work on different locations i have purchased multiple docks (3) for ease of use, and to have a complete desktop setup experience wherever i work. Sadly the dock works rather dodgy. Attached USB devices sometimes don't get connected/recognized, so i have to fall back to the keyboard on my ZBook. This seems to happen randomly, and multiple restarts are needed to correct this. Also the power cable to connect the ZBook with the dock is rather short and rigid, and the dock itself is lightweight so setting up a clean and neat desktop is a pain.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pure Useless Garbage This is the worst technology product that I have ever owned! I am so mad at this thing. Our IT guy has spent hours on the phone trying to get these docks to work. It's just a defective product and design in which, from what I have now read, is not being addressed. This dock just randomly disconnects from my monitor, and accessories. I have to restart the whole thing about four times a day and have lost A LOT of important work due to it. I know your business is primarily low-bid bulk corporate sales, but have a little pride in your product. Take some of that marketing spend, get a couple of decent engineers, and fix this. I am considering taking this to upper management to get switched over to Macs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from After updates, it is still awful Last year, I finally got this thing somewhat stable after I updated drivers and firmware because of the DAILY multiple BSOD. Lately it has returned to its true form. After a cold boot, I can set my watch to the 15 to 20 min BSOD. If I am lucky I only get one. If it has had a bad dreams at night, I get three. This product should have never seen production. There is no way that HP engineers did not see this during validation. We have an office full of these and they are all garbage. DO NOT BUY if you even thinking about it. If you really need two big monitors, buy a different laptop that does not use this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Poor Design The reason for buying this is to save you connecting lots of cables to your Zbook when you are working at your desktop. And yes, it does do that ... however, this device has several design deficiencies that limit its usefulness. 1. The connector cable (combined power and thunderbolt) is too short. That forces you to position the Zdock near your laptop and the whole jungle of cables that are attached to it (ethernet, display port, usb, audio, power, etc.) leave an unsightly mess at your workstation. 2. The audio connector is on the front instead of the back. Most people who connect audio will have desktop speakers so it makes no sense to have this connector on the front. If I want to use headphones, I would use wireless ones or the audio jack on the computer or display units, so the placement of this on the front side is unhelpful, and puts another unsightly cable in the way. 3. Some video will not play full-screen on a display connected to the ZDock's Display Port if you have hybrid graphics enabled (which is the default on a ZBook 17 G3). The only way to solve this is to change the BIOS to permanent discrete graphics mode, which shortens my battery run-times when I am mobile. Going back to hybrid graphics mode when disconnected requires changing the BIOS setting (there is an "auto" setting in there which doesn't work either) - and doing that is not something I'm happy to do each time I disconnect or reconnect to the ZDock. 4. The power input cable is positioned so that the power cable, which is quite large and chunky, cannot be easily routed away. 5. When I disconnect from the ZDock, about 70% of the time, the display on the laptop will go black and cannot be re-activated. The computer has to be powered down to get the display back. This means I can't go from my workstation to a presentation or meeting without shutting down. That's very frustrating. Overall I cannot recommend this product. This is very disappointing after spending premium $ on the ZBook 17 G3 (which is great), only to have the total experience spoiled by this poor product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Thunderbolt docking stations just suck I'm not sure if this is a Thunderbolt issue or firmware issue but this docking station is horrible. First: The cord is way too short. It barely reaches my laptop from between my monitors. Second: A cord is an idiotic solution for a docking station. I just LOVE reaching over and between items to plug a cord in instead of actually just plopping my laptop down on a real docking station. Third: It just doesn't work very well. Does your environment only support Legacy Bios boot? Well too bad, HP will refuse to support you since they don't support Legacy. Alright, lets upgrade UEFI, maybe that'll be better. Does your environment use encryption? Well don't plan on turning on your PC with the docking station and having the ability to use your keyboard or mouse before it gets to Windows. Who does't want to open their laptop lid while docked for input? I guess if that gets annoying enough you can completely disable Thunderbolt security in the BIOS. Now, for the most part I can use my keyboard and monitors to enter my Bitlocker PIN. So you want to take your laptop to a meeting. Well that's fine, it usually works just fine. Just make sure you put your laptop back to sleep before connecting to your docking station again or the USB ports on the docking station will not work until you do a reboot. Yup, that's right, that docking station you just plugged backed into your laptop doesn't actually work until you do a reboot if you machine doesn't wake from sleep. Also, don't bother trying the USB C docking station, chances are, it won't be able to supply power to your laptop.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fails to function @ 4k like it should This dock with or without the displaylink software (TH2 and RS1) fails to project using DisplayPort connection with a 4k monitor anything greater than 2k. The USB-C to DisplayPort adapter, which is much cheaper, correctly projects to a 4k monitor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Crashing my laptop. A cable mess. Similar to others, this device is like a USB hub that leaves a cable mess on my desk. The short connector to the laptop isn't long enough to create space between the mess and the laptop. I'd take that though if it were my only problem. When I undock and then re-dock, my laptop crashes every time. After it boots back up, none of the usb connected devices work. To fix this I need to unplug the doc power but that causes the monitors to cut out. It usually takes another reboot to finally get things working again. After contacting HP support, it sounds like the only alternative to this doc is a 3rd party USB dock. This thing is horrible and really takes the shine off an otherwise solid laptop purchase.
