SLR Magic 25mm T0.95 HyperPrime Cine III Lens (MFT Mount)

The SLR Magic 25mm T0.95 HyperPrime Cine III Lens is an exceptionally fast normal focal length lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras (50mm full-frame equivalent). The fast T0.95 maximum aperture lets you capture images with a shallow depth of field, while also benefiting low-light filming. Designed to support a cine-style workflow, the lens features a clickless iris for smooth iris pulls and cine-standard geared focus and aperture rings. Compared to the 49mm front filter threads found on the Cine II version, the Cine III lens features 52mm front filter threading for attaching filters or other optional accessories, such as the SLR Magic Anamorphot adapter and Achromatic Diopters. An optional lens support is recommended when using the Anamorphot, especially when using diopters.

Features
  • Covers up to Micro Four Thirds format sensors
  • Fast T0.95 maximum aperture
  • Clickless iris for smooth exposure adjustments while shooting
  • Built-in iris and focus gears follow industry standards, allowing you to work with optional follow focus units and lens gear motors
  • Focus rotation of the lens follows the cinema standard, allowing you to swap between this and other optional lenses without having to change your workflow
  • 12-bladed iris
  • 52mm front filter threads
  • Metal construction
  • Compatible with optional SLR Magic Anamorphot adapter and Achromatic Diopters
SLR Magic Self-Locking Variable ND Filter (52mm, 1.3 to 6-Stop)

This 52mm SLR Magic Self-Locking Variable ND Filter is a solid variable neutral density filter that is designed to mount onto lenses with 52mm front filter threads and provides an exposure reduction of 1.3 to 6 stops. The 0.4 to 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the front filter ring, helping you to predetermine the additional exposure length required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. For easier, repeatable control over density settings, the front ring is visually demarcated with numbers representing different density values and includes a rotation lever to further enable fast and precise positioning of the front ring. Once the front ring is rotated into a position that corresponds to the desired amount of density, the filter's rear ring can then be turned to lock the front ring into place, helping to ensure consistent exposures.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity and color fidelity. It is multi-coated to prevent internal ghosting as well as reflections.

Variable neutral density filter allows you to dial in differing amounts of density scene to scene.
0.4 to 1.8 neutral density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Providing a reduction of 1.3 to 6 stops, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.
Offers increased flexibility to use specific ISO settings or ISO films under bright ambient light.
Provides increased exposure flexibility while using cinema or video cameras within a designated film frame rate.
Multi-coated, optical glass for clarity and color fidelity as well as the prevention of internal ghosting and reflections.
Side lever allows the filter glass to be easily rotated.
Integrated exposure locking ring prevents accidental rotation of filter glass and changes to corresponding density values.
Plastic filter case for storage and transport.

SLR Magic HyperPrime Cine 25mm T0.95 Mark III Reviews

My most used lens

This lens is my absolute favorite and stays on my camera about 90% of the time. I am just a small time Youtuber product reviewer however I have employed this lens full time since 2016. The lens is weighty, well built, and the gears for aperture and focus are still smooth. Comparing it to a voigtlander purchased around the same time, whose focus ring has stiffened over time this- I am glad it did not happen to the slr magic. I wish I had a single complaint about this lens- but I don't. I generally use it stopped to anywhere between 1.4- 5.6 ish and it provides a nice sharp image in 1080p and 4k. I generally use it with a Tiffen variable ND and I do have to tweak colors in post, but that's probably the Tiffen's fault. On micro MFT this 25mm allows me to frame my shot in my cameras flip out screen view while holding the product in my hand. Using focus peaking on my monitor I can generally pull sharp focus out of this. Anyway I love it, and it has easily transitioned between my BMPCC, Lumix G7, and GH5S. And fingers crossed a GH7 when a good deal comes along. I even have the Lumix/Leica 25mm and I've barely used that. I guess I prefer the tactile focus and aperture ring of the SLR Magic. I do not use it much with still lenses where I prefer auto focus lenses.

Awesome lens

This is my first manual lens. Great solid build and smooth and confortable rings. It's awesome for low light situations and the image quality is so good. The bokeh is awesome!

question

How many degrees is the focus throw rotation?
Asked by: NICHOLAS
SLR Magic does not list the focus throw rotation for this lens. Keep in mind that this is a very small lens with a diameter around 40mm, it is not going to have a very large focus throw rotation.

While we are not aware of any specific specs on its lens breathing, as a more affordable cinema lens option you should expect there to be some breathing with this lens.

What is the MFT focal length for this lens? Since this is a MFT lens for a MFT camera, is the focal length halved?
Asked by: Charles
No, it's 25mm. The depth of field, etc is what you would expect from a 25 mm lens. If you're talking about field of view, it would be similar to what you would get on a 50 mm lens on a camera with a 35 mm sensor.

What is the FF focal lenght equivalent for this lens?
Asked by: Mario
Micro Four Thirds lenses have a crop factor 2x, so this 25mm lens is equivalent to a 50mm Full Frame lens.

Asked by: Spacesuit
If this lens is wobbling on your camera, it likely does not properly fit. I suggest trying a different lens.
