Designed with SMB customers in mind, the 4TB Red Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD from WD is well-suited for medium to large-scale NAS environments with up to sixteen 3.5" drive bays. Engineered to handle increased workloads, this 4TB drive operates using a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, a 128MB cache, and a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, which all help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers with a sustained rate of up to 202 MB/s. This drive also features high levels of reliability, with 600,000 load/unload cycles, <10 in 1015 non-recoverable read errors per bits read, dual-plane balance control technology, and 1,000,000 hours MTBF for 8-16 bay NAS systems. Shock protection is provided by a multi-axis shock sensor and WD's NASware 3.0 helps increase system compatibility, allowing Red Pro drives to be more easily integrated with your existing network infrastructure.

General Features

Professional Solutions
Designed specifically with SMB customers in mind the WD Red family has expanded with the addition of WD Red Pro, which is available for the 8 to 16 bay medium to large-scale NAS environments. With a 4TB storage capacity, this WD Red Pro drive carries a 5-year limited warranty and was engineered to handle the increased workloads from your business.
NASware 3.0 Technology
With advanced firmware technology built into this WD Red Pro drive, NASware 3.0 enables seamless integration, robust data protection and optimal performance for systems operating in the demanding NAS environment.
Vibration Protection
In combination with 3D Active Balance Plus, WD Red Pro also features hardware vibration compensation technology which monitors the drive to correct both linear and rotational vibration in real time, further increasing drive reliability.
Enhanced Accuracy for NAS
For overall enhanced accuracy for NAS, WD Red Pro is also equipped with dual actuator technology which improves positional accuracy over the data tracks and head positioning. StableTrac technology then secures the motor shaft at both ends to reduce system-induced vibration and stabilize the drive platters for accurate tracking during read and write operations. Both technologies are important for larger 8 to 16 bay NAS environments.
8 to 16 Bay Shock Protection
WD Red Pro is equipped with a multi-axis shock sensor that automatically detects subtle shock events and dynamic fly height technology which adjusts each read-write function to compensate and protect the data. This combination of technology further protects the drives in large 8 to 16 bay NAS environments and increases drive reliability.
Error Recovery Prevention
Built specifically for RAID and NAS environments, WD Red Pro drives come equipped with error recovery controls as part of NASware 3.0, which prevents the drive from fallout in RAID applications.
Longer Warranty Coverage
Complimenting WD Red at a 3-year limited warranty, WD Red Pro offers longer warranty coverage with a 5-year limited warranty for an even greater peace of mind.
Premium Support
Every WD Red Pro hard drive comes with support services including a premium dedicated 24/7 support line (available in English, other regional support hours vary).

Please note support outside of normal business hours is available in English only

4TB Red Pro 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic I'm currently running eight of these in a Synology NAS (RAID 6). They are fast, quiet, and reliable. They have been in service for only about nine months so far, mainly as file storage (including Movies / Music). Five months ago, I started migrating several HyperV VM's to use these as storage. (Domain Controller, Exchange Server, SQL Server, and three misc Web/Application servers) So far, no issues with performance or stability. While I have not had to use WD Support/Warranty for these drives yet, I have used WD drives for 8+ years. Warranty replacements have always arrived promptly, and with no vendor hassle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Good Buy for the Money I purchased two of these hard drives a couple of weeks ago. The drives came secure with all the necessary tools to install in either your computer or RAID system. I installed the drives in a Thunderbay Raid system. It was easy to install and there were no issues mounted to my new Mac Pro. I'm using those drives with Photoshop and several other photography plugins without any problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great drives for the price and capacity. I installed 6 of these 4TB WD Red Pro HDDs into a NAS (RAID 5) and they work great. They come without screws for mounting so you will need to have some 6-32 x 1/4 screws with a flat head that will sit flush with the mounting tray. Great HDDs. I have much less trouble out of WD drives than Seagate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good NAS drives Using 2 of these in the new Drobo 5D3. Speed is very fast as I'm using it as my platform to edit on with Final Cut Pro on my 2016 MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 3 interface. Slightly noisy but I'm an original gangsta and it's bringing back memories of the good ol days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Pro Drive I purchased this product for my main C drive, for speed and reliability. I have always used W/D drives for there reputation and quality. I am very happy with this drive and will be buying many more in the near future to set up my NAS system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Product Using this for video storage on my Drobo 5D and has been solid. Not much to say about it really. Either a hard drive works or it doesn't. :). This one does.
