Hoya 95mm Circular Polarizer Filter
Key Features
  • Circular Polarizer Filter
  • 3 to 4x Filter Factor, +1.6 to 2 Stops
  • Helps to Eliminate Reflections and Glare
  • Reduces Haze in Landscapes
The Hoya 95mm Circular Polarizer Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

Hoya B-95CRPL-GB Overview

The Hoya 95mm Circular Polarizer Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

This filter is non-coated and has approximately 93% average light transmission. It is constructed from optical glass and precision-milled aluminum-alloy frames.

Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.
Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features.

Hoya B-95CRPL-GB Reviews

Doesn't work with 15mm lens

I use Hoya polarizer filters, and have several to fit my various lenses. If I'm buying a lens that has a filter size that I don't have, I always buy another one of these Hoya Polarizers to use on that new lens. I'm sure this filter is as good as the others. However, I bought it to work with my new 15mm f2.4 Irix Firefly lens, (great lens by the way). The problem is that the metal ring on this filter is too wide, sticks out too far out of the front the lens, and thus blocks the corners of the wide field of view on this lens. This is more than vignetting. This is out and out blockage of part of the field of view of the lens. Thus I have to return the filter. If you are using this on a longer focal length lens, I'm sure This filter would be great.

very good quality

I am a nature photographer, with a specialty in birds. The filter allows me to take photos of flora and birds against the sky, providing protection to the subjects and beautiful skies. Can't wait to use it on the ocean!
