question

Does the doorbell ring so you can hear if you are in house without your cell phone nearby?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes the doorbell unit itself will ring but if you are too far from it you might not hear it and would need to purchase the chime unit separately.

What if you don’t have a doorbell

What if you don’t have a doorbell
Asked by: Anonymous
If you don't have an existing doorbell, you would have to run a power cable for this unit. If you can't do that then you should consider the battery operated versions.

What's the difference between the Ring Video ...

What's the difference between the Ring Video Doorbell 2 and the Ring Pro?
Asked by: Dennis
The staff answer (Ezra) that the Doorbell 2 can be "battery operated or hardwired" is technically incorrect. Careful reading of the material accompanying the Doorbell 2 is clear that the Doorbell 2 is powered by the internal battery. The "hardwired" option refers to providing a power source which charges the battery, as an alternative to having to remove the battery and recharge it outside of the unit when it's charge is drained. The doorbell unit, itself, is not powered by the hardwired external power source, which is a feature of a different Ring model! The unit is operated by the battery in both situations, and which must be present to function. Though I have not seen any spec data provided, it is reasonable to expect that the battery will, at some future point in time, no longer be able to retain a charge after a certain number or recharges, and would have to be replaced, as do all rechargeable batteries, eventually. I don't know whether this spec is available from Ring.

Lower temp limit spec'd at -5F. Where I live it can get to -25. What happens below -5?
Asked by: Eric
If the temperature gets below -5, the camera has been shown to not work properly. The sensor might freeze. When the temperature picks up, then the camera will work again.
