Building on the success of the original iteration of their polar scope, Vixen Optics' PF-L Polarie Polar Scope is a simplified iteration to make polar alignment faster and easier. An illuminated star field reticle clearly shows the Northern hemisphere star pattern around the pole; and to polar align your scope, simply lineup the three stars on the reticle with the three corresponding stars in the sky. Vixen eliminated the hour angle and instead utilizes a companion Android or iOS smartphone app for a streamlined experience. Features such as red illumination to preserve night adjusted vision, eight selectable brightness levels, and auto-off after two minutes make this an essential accessory to your compatible Vixen equatorial mount.

PF-L Polarie Polar Scope is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware!! not compatible with Vixen Sphinx SX mount The scope itself is nice. The built-in red led to illuminate the reticle is a major plus. the minus 4 stars is for incompatibility to Vixen Sphinx SX mount. I've contacted Vixen Optics prior to making the purchase, and they insisted the mount would be compatible. This scope does not have any threads like the old Polaris Scope, which allows you to screw it in the mount.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mystery Solved -- Works with SXD2 Mount This works with the SXD2 mount. You need to take off the collar. Use a wrench to remove the outside thread-less collar pointed to by the blue arrow. This exposes the inside threads you will need to screw the new scope into the SXD2 mount. The wrench grabs two small holes on the front of both old and new scopes. You simply grab the collar by hand and unscrew it while the wrench holds the inner core. search: s p a n n e r wrench, Pointed (Imported) - SPP

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quite necessary for the Polarie. I was deciding for a bit whether to purchase this for aligning my Vixen Polarie for an upcoming trip to the Southern Hemisphere and I am mighty glad I did so. After alignment with the 3 stars of Octans, I was able to image without any worries all night long with no star trails. I've very happy with it. The only note is Octans is pretty dim and may be a challenge to locate under light polluted skies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect alignment I bought this for my new SX2 mount. It has made the polar alignment process as easy as aligning up the star field in the scope. The reticle has a variable red light illumination. It took only about 2 min. to get a perfect alignment that lasted all night
