Alan Parsons Imperial Grand from IK Multimedia is a virtual instrument that can function standalone or as a plug-in instrument when loaded into the company's free SampleTank Custom Shop, or as a loaded instrument in SampleTank 3 or SE workstations. It features a prestigious concert grand piano, the Bösendorfer Model 290 grand piano, recorded by Alan Parsons using AKG C12 and Neumann U67 valve microphones, running through a classic EMI console.
Most notes were recorded with eight velocity layers. The perfect velocity split positions were sought out and combined with carefully dialed-in velocity responses from the SampleTank 3 engine. The software's Acoustic Resonance convolution effect adds realistic soundboard resonance when a sustain pedal is depressed, providing the real-life experience of playing an acoustic grand piano. The library is perfect for pop, rock, classical, or jazz compositions, or any style where an audiophile acoustic grand piano, recorded by legendary engineer at a world-class studio is required.
