Aluphone from Spitfire Audio is a member of the mallet family and features a two and a half octave array of aluminum bells played by Paul Clarvis using marimba mallets, recorded in the hall at Air Studios. The instrument belongs to the company's Definitive Range of sample libraries, which strives to offer a single repository for classic and esoteric instruments. And since all of those instruments are recorded in situ in the same room, they're designed to lock together sonically.

The library features samples recorded with a selection of both damped and sustained beaters, with a broad selection of dynamic layers and round robins. The Ostinatum section of the instrument is not quite an arpeggiator, nor a sequencer, but a device that allows for building complex patterns dependent on what's being played. Additionally, the samples are presented with six microphone positions that can be mixed and blended together to fit a current application. A full version of KONTAKT 5 is required to utilize this sample library.
