Vello LW-100 Overview

Use a mobile device or desktop computer to remotely control your camera with the LW100 Extendá Wi-Fi Camera Remote Control from Vello. The Extendá will create an ad-hoc Wi-Fi network with a range of 164', allowing users to connect wirelessly with a mobile device or desktop computer and then make adjustments to a Canon, Nikon, or Sony camera's settings and functions via an app. This includes making changes to ISO, shutter, speed, aperture, exposure compensation, and more. A Live View mode is also available which provides a feed of your camera's view on your device, enabling Touch Focus and many other functions.

Not just useful for taking photos and video, the Extendá can automatically stream photos to your mobile device, permitting a client to review images as you work. These images can be directly downloaded to your device for immediate upload to other services and applications. Along with these features, the Extendá offers other functions to help you shoot more difficult shots, including a focus stacking mode and an intervalometer with bulb shooting. Additionally, the device is powered by a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery and can be used to charge mobile devices via the USB output.

Sony: Most cameras are supported, however not all functions of the Extendá are available. Please see the manufacturer's Sony compatibility chart for detailed compatibility information.

The Extendá connects directly to a camera via a USB cable and then creates an ad-hoc Wi-Fi network, allowing users to remotely control their camera using an application available on iOS, Android, Mac, or Windows devices. The Wi-Fi network has a range of 164', while an Ethernet port supports a wired connection to a computer.
Users will be able to remotely change settings such as shutter speed, ISO, aperture, exposure compensation, white balance, and more.
Live view mode provides a real-time stream from the camera to your device. This allows you to preview images, using a larger and more detailed screen, before they are taken.
The Extendá app supports touch focus/tap-to-focus functionality. This means you can just tap on your device's touchscreen to select which area of the scene to focus on. Alternatively, users can also manually control focus by adjusting the focal plane forward or backwards in small increments.
Set up the app for auto viewing of images to have each image streamed to a mobile device or computer immediately following capture. This allows a client or assistant to easily review images as they are taken. Also, users can use the Extendá app to browse images on the card and then select images to save to your mobile device or computer.
Create advanced timed exposures with the controls provided by the Extendá app. This includes delay timers for countdowns before your shot as well as an intervalometer for setting up time-lapses. A bulb mode is available as well for long exposures.
Focus stacking will allow you to take a series of photos with varying focus points that can be combined in post-processing software to create a single image with a wide depth-of-field.
Set up bracketing in order to make sure you don't miss the shot. This mode offers options for exposure bracketing using shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation. This tool can be used to help create HDR images using post-processing software.
A rule-of-thirds grid is available to help with composition in stills and video.
Powered by a built-in 3.7V 1800mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery, the Extendá can also be used to recharge mobile devices via its USB port.

If I wanted to set this up with a compatible Sony ...

If I wanted to set this up with a compatible Sony mirrorless camera in a box to do long term time lapse shots (weeks or months in durations), would this device allow photos to be automatically downloaded into a mobile device with cellular service in the same box and also automatically upload those photos to a file sharing service such as Dropbox without having to be interacted with (without having to open or otherwise disturb the box?

Setting up your device using the LW-100 Extendá to download and automatically upload your photos to a file sharing service can be done. However, the LW-100 Extendá is not designed for continuous use and may not operate perform well under these conditions.

I just tried to connect the extenda to the ios ...

I just tried to connect the extenda to the ios app. I successfully connected my device to the Extenda Wi-Fi, but then the app on my device asking me for an "access password". this is not mentioned in the manual or anywhere online. What's going on? please help!

You can reset your device by pressing the reset button down for 3 seconds (button #3 See page 3 in the user’s manual). This action will enable you to create a new password under the settings menu and grant you access to the App.

After going back and forth with Vello for two ...

After going back and forth with Vello for two days I'm still not able to connect the extenda to my laptop. It connects to the Extenda Wifi connection then after that it tell me it cant find the network. I have tried it on two computers. I was told new software was added today, I erased the old one off and installed the new one. I still have the same problem. Has anyone gotten there's to work?
