The DXA-MICRO-PRO from Beachtek is an active 2-channel audio adapter. It is designed to connect one XLR mic with 48V phantom power and two 3.5mm microphones to a DSLR or camcorder with a 3.5mm mic input. Both 3.5mm inputs feature plug-in power. This allows you to record the audio directly to the camera in sync with the picture for videographers, sound designers, and more.

With dual gain-adjustment settings, the adapter provides a stronger audio level to the camera and bypasses the noisy camera preamplifiers. Built-in good/over level indicators allow you to verify the signal levels at a glance and the trim controls let you adjust the output signal for optimum recording. A headphone jack monitors your audio from the adapter during recording or camera playback.

Finally, the DXA-MICRO-PRO will conveniently mount under the camera for a secure attachment to a tripod base or will mount on the hot shoe above the camera. It is powered by a single 9V battery.

Beachtek DXA-MICRO PRO Reviews

Great Audio Quality, Battery Cover is Delicate

By Michael

The Micro Pro has great audio quality for DSLR videos and I am very happy with the design overall. The battery cover is very delicate and cheap and I fully expect it to break after some use, which is why I am deducting a star. On electronics that require frequent battery changes it would be better to have a more durable battery compartment.

Sounds good, but eats batteries when using phantom power

If you are doing long shoots or streaming, opt for the Pro+ version with the USB charge option. My experience is using it with phantom powered mic... without the phantom power, you may be fine with the battery life. Note, there is no other power option... battery only for this model.

No real complaints

I know there are some newer pre amps, some with more features. But this one seems to be a solid workhorse, great reviews all over. It's solid, feels quality, and so far I have had no issues.

Wall-E

I posted a pic of my new setup, which included my Beachtek DXA-MICRO-PRO Active XLR Compact Adapter. Someone commented that, as a bonus, it looked like Wall-E from the 2008 film. The reason I posted is because of the great performance of this little rig, and the additional options it opened up for me. Lav plus camera mount, condenser mic plus lav, etc. I self-tape auditions and this adapter allows many choices depending on the setup needed, and wonderful audio with any setup.

Clear Audio for a Church Live Stream

It took a little tweaking to get the right gain settings with the audio console, but once it was set, we got it sounding great. This church is using this for their live stream of their church services. Have a blessed day!

Using bottom mounted on Sony A7iii. Nice crisp audio. Great control access and connectivity. I love this thing. My only gripe is I had to offset the unit to the left on my A7iii in order to open the battery door. If you are top mounting there are no issues and the cold shoe slots on either side are a convenient way to mount wireless receivers. Love this thing.

Works well; hard on battery

We needed to power a SCM-700 condenser microphone so we could run it into a camcorder for our church service. This little box works well and gets the job done. But we found that a fresh 9v battery only lasts for about 90 minutes, and so we had to replace it before every service. I forgot a couple of times and the mic died mid-service. As a result, I upgraded to the DXA-MICRO-PRO-PLUS model which can be powered by an external adapter. The two models are identical except for how they are powered; the plus model has a rechargeable battery along with external power via a USB cable. If you are making short videos and are on the go, this is the unit for you. If you are indoors and can use AC power, get the other unit.

Works perfect. Make sure to get rechargeable 9Vs

This works beautifully. For the price, the noise floor is fairly low and the signal is quite clean. This does consume 9V batteries like they are tictacs! 9Vs are not cheap if you aren't getting the rechargeable ones. I think the documentation says you can get about 3 hours of use out of a single battery... I think it's more like 2 (and I am using good batteries). I can extend the life of the batteries if I turn off the phantom power and run my mic on a nother power source. Not the best option. I did also purchase a 9V battery eliminator to help with this, which works perfect... unless your camera is also pluggged into the same master battery. It'll create a ground loop that I still need to resolve. Other than that. This this is amazing.

Hello. Just so I'm straight, this unit will provide phantom power to a shotgun mic that requires it?
Asked by: Harlan
The DXA has an XLR jack on one side that can provide 48 volts of phantom power to XLR condenser mics, shotgun or otherwise, that require it. If you’re using an XLR mic that does NOT need phantom power, then you can turn off phantom power to the jack using a slide switch on the DXA.

can thisbe used to plug a canon G50 audio in thru a mixer?
Asked by: David
Most likely, you need to get a cable that has a 3.5mm jack to a XLR or 1/4 jack on the other end. We are going straight from this device into into our Canon Vixia RF80 then we connect from Canon to computer through the Micro HDMI from Canon into computer.
