FetHead Phantom In-Line Microphone Preamp is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Possible fake? I have two of these, purchased at different times, both from B&H. The first one has performed as designed. The second one just arrived, and has a number of subtle but noticeable differences from the known genuine article. I have not had the opportunity to A/B test yet, but the black "FetHead Phantom" tape is matte/satin rather than glossy, and arrived peeling off. The "Triton Audio" badge arrived broken off of the unit, and is visually inferior to the one on the genuine article. I will be reaching out to the manufacturer for clarity on whether these changes were on their end or if Triton Audio's US distributor is selling fakes.... stay tuned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GOOD HELP & GOOD PRODUCT! We all know that every time the gain of the: audio recorder, preamp interface, mixer, whatever, is increased, noice increases too. And the noice is more noticeable each time 50% 70% is passed (depending on the quality of the preamp equipment ). The TRITON AUDIO 18dB of gain is not a miracle, are THE HELP to not have to raise the 50 or 70% gain of the pream. Although these devices have their own noise, BUT this noise is significantly lower than that produced by the preamp if we have to increase 18dB.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional product The combination of a Zoom H5 and Rode Ntg-8 produce great, but soft sound for nature work. Adding the Fethead Phantom boosts the sound dramatically without coloring. I can now use the H5 at about 6 or 7 which dramatically reduces the noise floor. It also works very well with the Rode Procaster for narration. This one item has significantly improved my audio setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with NTG-2 and H4n Use this with Rode NTG-2 and Zoom H4n. Gives me a much needed levels boost with minimal additional noise. Definitely better than cranking the H4n all the way up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great price and great product I was astonished by just how much this device improved the quality of my sound. If you own a cardioid mic, you want this preamp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Fantastic, clean pre-amp that allows me to get full, rich sound and not crank the gain on my Field Recorder. Big fan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needs better quality control First unit came in and was DOA. B&H nicely sent me another one, while the 2nd unit was working the logo was completely scrapped off and left a glue mark behind. It's a good piece of gear and crucial if you want to record audio on your ursa mini directly. But I wish they'd do better quality controls, especially since another reviewer had the exact same problem I had.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from More Headroom! Had an issue with Lavs not giving off enough headroom to a studio setup. We originally bought just the FetHead, needed to switch to the FetHead Phamtom to ensure that it passed phantom all the way through to the Mics. It seems to give us much more now, allowing us to lower the gain and get less room noise on our recordings.
