JVC GY-HM620 Reviews

I love this camera

I like my camera it has very clean 1080p picture while shooting under low light. One thing I did not like, is the auto focus, It focuses more in the back ground and leaves the subject not focused (under low lighting). I used it more in manual mode 80% of the time while recording.

In addition to my previous post, I've discovered that when you zoomed in all the way on JVC 23x vs. Canon 18x, they both were about the same because the Canon lens is bigger. Both cameras did well because when you zoom really far, your aperture gets smaller. Canon is at 2.8 and JVC is at 3.0. Manufacture will try to save money by making smaller lens in the new 4K cameras. The problem with that is like trying to get a lot of water running through a smaller pipe at a faster speed.

I bought the camera for church live streaming. I needed a second camera that would perform just as good or better than the Canon XF305. I had a horrible experience with the 4k Panasonic AG-UX180 so I returned it and bought this one. All the cameras work great in sunlight, but when it comes to indoor where you have difficult lighting conditions, the color reproduction and optical lens set the camera apart. This camera did well under low light. When it comes to zooming really far, the image no longer is sharp. It did much better than the Panasonic but not as good as the Canon. Canon has bigger lens than the JVC. Panasonic has the smallest. You will have to play around with the color adjustment because it does not reproduce exact color automatically like the Canon or Sony.

Just recieved my new JVC GY-Hm620 and went out to test it at a club. I was amazed how well it adjusted to the light. The unit was able to record and see everyone without and back light or turning up any outside source. It was easy to work and took no time to learn the basic recording techniques. The instructions were easy to read and understand. Very impressed with the quality of the video so far.

Purchased the next model higher earlier and figured I would try this one since it's has pretty much everything as the more expensive model except steaming module in it. Love the way it looks on IMAG and recording quality.

Nice Camera - Little Restrictive on the Formats

This is a solid camera all around. Weighted very nicely for both sticks and run n' gun. Cinema mode produces a very nice picture with rich saturation without overdoing it. My needs run from quick, grind it outs to this is going to the 'c-suite', make it look like a movie, so that is nice. Don't expect a 5D-Mark III finish, but you get a lot more versatility with pro connections, manual switches and toggles, and features. Only 2 major cons: You can only shoot 24p in MPEG-2 or MP4 formats. I prefer that look and space-saving files. 2nd Focus Assist appears in the Viewfinder in B/W. Takes getting used to. I like Panasonics because the FA is in color. One major plus is that there is a one toggle all-auto mode. So if I need to hand the camera off to a non-pro, at least I know I can get usable footage.

This is my 5th JVC HM series camera and I really like them! It looks so much better than my Sony that was over $1,000 more.

question

How long does the stock battery run?
Asked by: Guy
Battery life depends on many factors. Since it is not possible to say with absolute accuracy, manufacturers do not list run times anymore. Our opinion is that this battery should last 2-4 hours. As working professionals, we suggest carrying extra batteries so that you get through your day.
