B+W 67mm UV/IR Cut MRC 486M Filter
The B+W 67mm UV/IR Cut MRC 486M Filter is an ultraviolet and infrared control filter that is useful for digital cinematography as well as still photography. While recording video with a CCD or CMOS camera, multi-stop neutral-density filters are used to maintain proper exposure by compensating for increased light levels when widening the camera lens's iris to obtain a narrower depth of field. As the increased amount of light passes through multi-stop neutral-density filtration, visible light is progressively blocked, while infrared light is allowed to pass through. As the proportion of infrared light that reaches the sensor of a camera being used for digital cinematography becomes greater, the results can show unwanted color shifts, particularly in dark areas of the frame such as shadows where the appearance of black is dominant.
When the B+W 67mm UV/IR Cut MRC 486M Filter is applied, 88% of ultraviolet light waves are blocked at 380 nanometers along with 95% of infrared light waves at 700 nanometers, helping to ensure that light falling on a digital camera sensor is limited to the visible spectrum. When used along with multi-stop neutral-density filters while recording with a digital sensor, potential infrared color shifts are prevented or minimized, preserving color accuracy throughout the frame. This filter may also be used to help ensure that the appearance of unwanted blue casts is reduced while recording digital video or still photos under daylight that also features intense ultraviolet light.
The front surface of a B+W 67mm UV/IR Cut MRC 486M Filter includes thirty layers of interference coatings which allow it to limit the light that falls on a digital camera sensor to the visible spectrum. When combined with a wide-angle lens, lower-frequency wavelengths of visible light associated with yellow, orange, and red colors passing through the filter and along that lens type's curved edges can be impeded in a significantly greater degree than higher-frequency wavelengths of visible light associated with blue and violet colors. This can result in an unwanted cool cast along the edges of an image taken with a B+W 67mm UV/IR Cut MRC 486M Filter and a wide-angle lens. To avoid such color shifts along the edges of an image when using this filter, it is recommended not to be used with lenses that are intended to provide an angle of view greater than 60°.
Eight layers of anti-reflection coating are included on the rear glass surface of this B+W 67mm UV/IR Cut MRC 486M Filter. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) prevents internal ghosting and reflections, offers protection to the filter substrate, and helps its rear surface to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters.
B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. The B+W 67mm UV/IR Cut MRC 486M Filter features an F-Pro brass filter ring for durability and jamming prevention, as well as 67mm front filter threads that allow it to be paired with other filter types. When in use, but not combined with another filter that provides a specific effect, it is recommended to place a clear, protective filter over the B+W 67mm UV/IR Cut MRC 486M Filter to prevent damage to its front interference coatings.

B+W 39mm UV Black (403) Filter
The B+W 39mm UV Black (403) Filter is a specialized filter used to block visible light while allowing UV A radiation (320-385nm) to pass through. This filter differs significantly to the more well known UV filter, which does the opposite by blocking UV radiation. The UV Black filter visibly appears completely black and is used in combination with specially sensitized films for applications such as forensic photography, material research, and fluorescence photography. Depending on the illumination and materials being used, the filter factor ranges from 8 to 20 (3 to 4.3 stops).
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.
B+W 39mm IR Dark Red 092 Filter
Dedicated to infrared photography, the 39mm IR Dark Red 092 Filter from B+W is a specialized filter for both digital and film photography. It has a nearly opaque, dark purple appearance when held to light, and is designed to block all visible spectrum light up to 650nm. To produce surreal effects, the 092 filter allows only 50% of light pass just below 700nm, and from 720-2000nm more than 90% of IR radiation passes. Since most infrared films are sensitive up to 1000nm, this transmitted red portion of the spectrum still affects the exposure. Due to the nature of infrared photography, the filter factor for this filter is highly variable and depends largely on your film sensitivity and lighting conditions.
This specialized filter is uncoated and uses high-quality Schott glass for its construction to maintain imaging integrity and optical clarity. It also features an F-Pro brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.
B+W 39mm Infrared 093 Filter
The B+W 39mm Infrared 093 Filter corresponds to a Wratten 87C filter and is designed to help capture images of how a subject reflects or transmits infrared light.
Infrared light waves occupy the space in the electromagnetic spectrum behind visible light due to their longer wavelengths. Many surfaces and materials react to, or emit, infrared light waves differently than visible light waves, which provides the potential for photographs of subjects or subject properties that are otherwise invisible to the human eye. Such images require an infrared-sensitive medium such as infrared film or a digital photographic sensor which may be more effective when used without the infrared-blocking filters that are frequently built over them.
Conventional light sources such as the sun, photographic strobes, or incandescent lighting may be used to provide infrared illumination. However, because infrared films or digital photographic sensors can be more sensitive to the relatively higher energy and shorter-wavelength visible light those sources also emit, the effects of infrared light can be otherwise obscured. The B+W 39mm Infrared 093 Filter makes it possible to capture images of how subjects are illuminated by infrared light by blocking near-infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light waves while allowing approximately 88% of infrared light waves 900nm or greater into the lens it is mounted onto.
This filter is constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and features an F-Pro brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.
