question

When using this lens on a new RED Epic Weapon, what would be the equivalent size from the 18 ml & up to the 80 ml?
Asked by: tim
The CN-E 18-80mm T4.4 lens is meant for Super35/APS-C sensors. This lens will cover the RED Weapon 8K S35 (Super35) sensor but not on the forthcoming 8K VV (Vista Vision) sensor. In Super35 mode, the crop factor as compared to Full Frame is about 1.6. Thus this lens would compare to about 29mm to 128mm in Full Frame. If I may, I would like to point out that calculating crop factor is a process that did not exist before digital cameras and therefore suggest dropping the process since it is confusing for novices and unnecessary for seasoned shooters. I recommend to just learn what a normal lens is for the format you are using and then drop calculating lens size for a format you are not shooting in.

Is it compatible with RF mount dslr cameras like ...

Is it compatible with RF mount dslr cameras like R7, for example ? What about AF, dual IS(inbody is+lens is) with canon adapter?
Asked by: Iker
NO - IT DEFINITELY DOES NOT WORK WITH THE CANON EOS R7! I have both official Canon RF adapters - straight adapter & 0.71x adapter and the electronic communication with either attached to the Canon R7 body is a complete FAIL. I have the latest firmware in both lens and body (as of 05-09-2023).

If I have this connected to an Blackmagic URSA G2 and an ATEM switcher, can I adjust the zoom and focus on this lens through the ATEM switcher?
Asked by: Justin
To the staff member who answered this, can you also confirm that the newest ATEM would also be able to control zoom on this lens, and not just focus?

Will the black magic focus and zoom controllers work with this lens when using the metabones adapter on the Blackmagic 4KG2?
Asked by: Michael
The Canon CN-E 18-80mm T4.4 COMPACT-SERVO Cinema Zoom Lens (EF Mount) can be controlled on the Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Plus or Pro G2 when mounted with a Metabones adapter such as the Metabones T Smart Adapter for Canon EF or Canon EF-S Mount Lens to Select Micro Four Thirds-Mount Cameras, BH #MEEFM43BT2, when the mount and camera are updated to the latest firmware. Focus and power zoom would be able to be controlled via the camera and any compatible zoom or focus controllers.

question

Is the servo control removable rom the lens for fully manual operation?
Asked by: Spencer
We are not seeing any mention that the servo motor can be removed/replaced by the user. We would think that this has to do with properly aligning it with the lens. However for those of you wishing full manual operation, there is a switch on the bottom left allowing you just that.

question

Am I right in assuming that I could pair this with the metabones EF-MFT smart adapter for use on the GH4 and new GH5?
Asked by: Anonymous
You should be able to use this lens with either the GH4 or soon to be released GH5 when using the standard Metabones EF to MFT Smart Adapter, B&H #MEEFM43BT2. However this combination has not yet been tested by Metabones as the CN-E 18-80mm was only just released.

You would have a crop factor of approximately 1.5 with full frame lenses, but not with S35.
