Designed as an ideal optic for wide-view astronomical or long-range terrestrial observation, the Barska 25x100 Cosmos WP Binocular features multi-coated optics to reduce reflection and increase light transmission through the entire optical system, and traditional Porro prisms that provide a rich depth of view and high-contrast to draw users into an immersive viewing experience. This combination of optical coatings, prisms, large over-sized objectives, and individually focusable eyepieces produce high-contrast views that are bright, clear and crisp, and tack-sharp.

To help offset the weight of the large objectives, Barska manufactured the chassis out of a durable aluminum alloy with a textured armoring on the outside to help protect from bumps and impacts while offering a slip-resistant grip. Due to the Cosmos' large objectives and long optical tubes it can feel fairly heavy with a center of gravity biased forward, so hand-holding it may cause fatigue and noticeable hand-shake. To facilitate putting it on stabilizing systems, its center stabilizer bar has a built-in 1/4"-20 tripod adapter to mount the instrument that can be moved along the bar for precise balancing. To handle a wide range of environments, the optical tubes are O-ring sealed to be water and fogproof.

25x100 Cosmos WP Binocular (Black) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for those who are serious about astronomy These are a very large binocular and are hefty so require a tripod that can handle their almost 10lbs weight. It all becomes worth it when you take them out on a dark night and are able to find objects much more easily. Their large 100mm apertures suck in a lot of light and the magnification brings in great detail of many celestial wonders such as galaxies, nebulas, Saturn and Jupiter with several of it's moons. During the day, I have used these for high magnification views of Hawks, other birds and military aircraft flying by and overhead. The description says that they are black but, they are actually a very esthetically pleasing medium brown textured body. They have wowed everyone when I have taken them out with how beautiful they are and their performance. A nice padded case is included which is a really a greatly helpful feature to protect them during transport. On a side note, I do like the new smell they have when you open the case and pull them out. As far as construction, they are of quality manufacture. The insides of the tubes are thoroughly darkened and baffled the entire length of the inside. The lengthwise mounting bar adds to its stoutness however it appears to be a lighter metal possibly aluminum so do not crossthread it and be careful during mounting so as to prevent stripping out the threads. It does come with a carrying strap if you just want to take them out for a quick look.
