Built like a telescope and optimized for terrestrial use, Barska's Magnus 390x65ED 65mm f/6 ED APO Spotting Scope is engineered with a triplet lens configuration using Extra Low-Dispersion crown and flint glass elements and a fully multi-coated optical path to virtually eliminate chromatic aberration so colors are rendered accurately without halos in high-contrast. The short focal length and modestly sized objective produce a relatively fast focal ratio making it an ideal digiscoping platform to capture photos and videos through the optical tube. Complementing the optical performance, and to further help imaging, the scope is outfitted with a Crayford-style focuser that uses a gearless friction system to achieve a level of precision focusing that conventional rack-and-pinion systems are unable to, without backlash.

The scope comes with an array of optical accessories to help you get observing faster. The 10mm fixed-focal length eyepiece produces a 39x magnification, and using the 8-24mm zoom eyepiece will give you fast access to a magnification range from 49x-16x. By utilizing a telescope-style focusing system, the Magnus can mount any 1.25" diameter eyepiece to give you access to an almost limitless amount of magnification and accessory options. To put the eyepiece in a comfortable viewing position and to correct the image for land use, Barska includes a 90° erect-image prism. This prism features dielectric coatings have a better than 99% light reflectivity to preserve image brightness, contrast, and color.

This iteration of the Magnus is offered without a mount or tripod for users who already have a mounting system - and it comes with a 1/4"-20 mount on the bottom to put it on most photo or field tripods. To protect the scope during transport and storage, Barska includes a hard carrying case that will hold the OTA and all the included accessories. Whether you want to look at the Moon and planets, or go birding and nature viewing, the Magnus spotting scope is an ideal companion for all your glassing needs.

Magnus 390x65 ED 65mm f/6 ED APO Spotting Scope is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from An impressive little true apo refractor This small, portable apo refractor performs well. Better-corrected for colour error than similar 2-element ED doublet scopes. The 1-1/4" focuser is a little rough compared to smoother units on coslier scopes, but it's quite functional. The scope came with a zoom eyepiece providing powers between 16-49 power, which for an included eyepiece gives good images. The scope can easily support up to 50x per inch (125 power) without image breakdown, and basic details on planets were easy to see due to excellent contrast. The scope also makes a respectable camera telephoto lens with adapters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Barska Magnus 65 Optics: 9/10. its a true triplet. though its not fluorite, but the images are clear and sharp, there is no C.A., especialy when using a flat field eyepieces. Mechanism: The main problem is when you use a 45 erect image prism. the most of eyepieces not adaptive. The mount 1/4'' hole is too deep for the tripod screw. The telescope comes with a cheapy hard box, and a cheapy diagonal and eyepieces. Overall, its 4 points.
