  • 502AH Pro Video Head with Flat Base

The Manfrotto 502AH Pro Video Head with Flat Base is an affordable yet remarkably fully featured professional head that represents an advance over the popular 501HDV, with sturdier construction and featuring Manfrotto's patented bridging technology (inherited from the 509 and 504 heads). This head is designed for executing cinematic moves with compact camcorders and DSLR video cameras. The 502AH comes in two versions—the "AH" flat-base version such as this, and the "A" ball base version which is separately available.

The weight capacity is 15.4 lb and counterbalance supports 8.8 lb. The balance plate's 3.27" range allows you to correct for uneven payloads due to matte boxes or DSLR rig configurations.

The bridging technology ensures that the pan friction control is intuitive and easy to set, but also protected against knocks. There are independent locks for pan and tilt, and drag for both is selectable in a continuous range from zero to the max level. This allows you to operate the head in a confident, smooth manner using the included pan bar.

Pan drag and tilt drag are continuously adjustable from 0 (no drag) to the maximum level
Sliding quick release plate secured by secondary safety system

  • MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod

The Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod is a three-section support that replaces the 055XPROB tripod. It has a load capacity of 19.8 lb and extends from 3.5" to 66.9". Its legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50%, and its load capacity by 4.4 lb over its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Reviews

502AH Video Head & MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod Kit is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from One Minor Flaw Ruined It All I'm hoping there is a simple fix. When tilting, there's a slight delay before the video head moves so every movement either begins or ends with tiny jolt. It's very distracting and ruins a smooth tilting shot. Other than that it seems durable so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the smooth pan! I have been really impressed with this tripod set. The sticks are not that heavy and the head is far better than I expected for the price. Both the pan and tilt fluid levels are adjustable and easy to use resulting in really smooth adjustments. I'm very pleased with the head.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from All Backwards! Need 2 right arms. Tilt release is on wrong side!!!! You cannot have your right hand on the handle and "release" the head tilt as it is on the right side of the head. Additionally, the plate is very difficult to "slide in". I have the models predecessor and love it. Not backwards and plate "tilts in" instead of sliding....a much better design. Funny how after 25 years of using tripods you think they couldn't or wouldn't mess it up but they did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Built like a tank Amazing fast shipping to Israel, never experienced such thing. Thank you very much. Amazing product, built like a tank, heavy as buck. Take the time to watch some tutorials on YouTube before you start messing with the head and the tripod. Because there are some parts that you need to apply strength on, but make sure you are twisting the right things. The 502 fluid head is huge, it's probably was a smart move to buy it with this tripod. Maybe a bit overkill but this tripod can withstand a nuclear attack probably and the head really needs a sturdy base.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy-Well Built-Fluid Pan takes some getting use to. Worth more than the price. Very sturdy, well constructed seems like it would hold a heavier camera mount if needed. The fluid pan takes some getting use to. You need to twist the head clockwise to tighten the resistance so the fluid pan will work correctly. This is a constant issue. Will take time to get use to. Otherwise all clips or tighteners seem strong and won't break over time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Got this on sale, fantastic value Built like a tank, very sleek and professional look, and the fluid head is a dream.? I will say, if I have the fluid head locked down too much and turn in counter clockwise without holding the base of the head, the head will screw loose a bit.? This is only an issue if you are using an incorrect amount of stiffness on the fluid head though and shouldn't cause you any trouble.? The fluid head arm is very long and comfortable to use.? The 90 degree column is great on paper, but very awkward in practice.? It has its place when creatively shooting, but design needs some polishing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from the BEAST this thing is a beast, i love it! it will be the only serious tripod i ever have to purchase. expensive but worth it, you could drop this off a cliff and it would still function. doing long exposures, astro-photography, large wildlife lenses, high winds, in deep snow, in water...... no worries, at all. my only wish was that it were lighter, cause it is heavy. that being said, i've lugged this thing around on a glacier because i know, once i set it up, it's not going to budge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Manfrotto brings quality to the video shoot once again! Once again the Manfrotto name has been well deserved and tightly associated with quality, durability, and value. This might end up being more tripod than we need given our camera size (Canon XA10) but it doesn't change the fact that it is VERY well built and ready for whatever we decide to throw at it.
