HP 8710 overview

  • 1Description

Save space, time, and resources with the wireless-capable OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Inkjet Printer from HP, which packs printing, scanning, copying, and faxing features into a single unit. This advanced model is also Instant Ink Ready so users will always have a fresh cartridge at the ready. At its core, the 8710 is an excellent printer with a resolution of 2400 x 1200 dpi and ISO print speeds of 22 ppm in black and 18 ppm in color. A draft mode can boost this speed to 35 ppm while Thermal Inkjet technology ensures sharp, vivid images and text. The unit is able to produce two-sided prints at a rate of 12 ppm in black or 10 ppm in color and can create borderless images at up to 8.5 x 11" or A4 sizes.

Automatic duplexing extends to both copying and scanning due to the inclusion of a 50-sheet ADF. Both the letter-size flatbed and ADF feature an optical resolution of 1200 dpi for crisp, sharp images and reproductions. For general media handling, this unit offers a 250-sheet input tray and a 50-sheet ADF, which can both work with a range of documents and media types up to 8.5 x 14" in size.

Equipped with built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity the 8710 can be added to an existing network with ease. All of these settings and modes can be intuitively accessed via the 2.65" Color Graphic Display (CGD) touchscreen on the front panel. Wi-Fi Direct allows users to connect directly from mobile devices for immediate printing needs, while it is also compatible with many services for working seamlessly with a variety of devices. For those desiring a direct, simple connection a USB 2.0 port is available.

Standard print languages included HP PCL 3 GUI and HP PCL 3 Enhanced.
Letter-sized flatbed works with documents as large as 8.5 x 11".
Standard input tray works with media ranging in size from 3 x 5" to 8.5 x 14".
Mobile printing support or HP ePrint, Apple AirPrint, Android OS Enablement Printing, and Mopria-certified devices.
Monthly duty cycle of 25,000 pages with a recommended monthly volume of 250-1,500 pages.
Instant Ink Ready
This printer is immediately ready for HP's Instant Ink Program which, for a small monthly fee, allows users to automatically have their printer notify HP when it is running low on ink in order to have a fresh cartridge shipped to your door. This system guarantees that you will always have a cartridge ready to go and keeps you from needing to constantly monitor ink levels.

    HP 8710 reviews

OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Inkjet Printer is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 218.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor WiFi connectivity This printer may be a good printer but only when it works. WiFi connectivity is HORRIBLE. When it is in sleep mode and I send a print command it doesn't come online. I keep seeing printer is offline. In Control Panel of my Windows when I go to Devices and Printers it keeps showing the printer grayed out. Even if I remove the printer and install again is doesn't come online. It stays grayed. Last time I downloaded drivers from HP.com and then installed the printer using that. It worked only as long as it stayed awake. As soon as it went to sleep mode, it my Windows could not get it to wake up. I never had this problem with OfficeJet Pro 8620 at my office.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Infuriating The fact that I cannot print a simple black and white document because a single color cartridge is empty is absolutely infuriating. My black cartridge is only half used. Feels like somebody went to extra effort to force me to buy expensive ink even when I don't need it. Can't even get them refilled like many other ink cartridges. Can't read a PDF file off of a flash drive to print it, only picture files. Set up went fine for me. Printing from my phone is easy enough when the computer refuses to talk to the printer. It's loud. It's slow. I definitely regret this purchase. At least check Amazon before buying ink through the HP site. $15 less for the basic pack of 3 colors. Outrageous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good. I have only used this new OfficeJet Pro 8710 for 2-1/2 weeks. It is used primarily for business purposes, which include printing, copying, and scanning. I really like the 2-sided printing feature, which automatically prints on both sides of the paper without reloading. That is a real time saver versus earlier HP printers I have used. Also, unlike previous HP printers, it so far has not displayed the annoying tendency to draw multiple sheets of paper at a time from the paper bin, which screws up multi-page documents being printed back-to-back on 2 sides of each sheet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from installation instructions unclear Never have had any problems with installing HP products until this wireless e-print came along. I am not on a "network" and that terminology is unclear as to what exactly the "network" refers to. Scanner works once in a while and cannot utilize the scan option for on lilne banking--can't get it connected., The online banking always worked beautifully with previous HP printers all-in ones. Have talked with other wireless printers such as this one and have gotten "don't buy wireless poroducts", but went ahead and ordered this printer. Can this printer be hooked up with Ethernet and circumvent the wireless connection?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Slower Than My Old 7510 I've had this printer for about three weeks now. It prints out fairly well when printing from your laptop, or desktop computer. It is really, really S-L-O-W when printing from your phone or tablet. My Inkjet 7510 was so much faster! Seems I've taken a step backwards. If my 7510 hadn't stopped working after three years, I'd still be using that. Oh well, I'm stuck with it now. Will make due. The paper tray is very hard to get open. You almost feel like you're going to break it when you do try to get it open. I sent a three page text document to the printer, and after 10 minutes, the printer was still spooling, trying to print out the simple text pages. Soooo frustrating!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I have never used a printer that I dislike more. This printer is a constant disappointment. I have had it three weeks and for about 3 days it worked great so i threw out all the packaging. It has failed in nearly every day since. I been on the tech support network (which is great and everyone is friendly and they get it working) but it is constantly in a paper jam, although there is no paper jam!!! I lost its connection to the network in the middle of printing. I really really dislike this printer and regret buying it every day. It makes the day to day operation of my business nearly impossible. You just want to count on your printer working without a daily 1+ hour chat with tech support and them taking over my computer to make the stupid thing work. Don't buy this printer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't print Address Labels HP has gone downhill. I bought this to replace my 7310. I use to print a lot candy labels using address label paper. When I tried to print the labels they are completely crooked. I am no longer able to make labels. Also as someone else said the ink is telling you to replace the cartridge before it REALLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, When my old printer was running out of ink it would start to fade .... This printer just said REPLACE THE CARTRIDGE. I had just printed something and the black ink was perfect yet the printer would not let me print until i replaced it. THIS WILL BE MY LAST HP

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent printer! I purchased this printer to replace another HP I had that did not work well. I am very pleased with this all-in-one printer. It was very easy to set up, very easy to connect to my wifi and thus far, has worked seamlessly for my wireless printing needs. It is a huge convenience to be able to print wirelessly and I was pleasantly surprised that my printer has an email address so I can email print jobs to the printer from anywhere. HP support was very good at answering my questions and as I use a MacBook and saw there were initially some problems with scanning, I was relieved to learn the scanning issues when using a Mac have been corrected.
