The 16-channel 4TB NSR-500 Network Surveillance Recorder from Sony is a reliable storage solution for network-based IP cameras. It allows you to record real-time video from up to 16 network cameras at a frame rate of 30 fps. Recorded video is compressed using H.264, MPEG-4, or JPEG compression formats. You can select from RAID 10, 5, or 5 + hot spare configurations to best suit your business requirements. In addition, the NVR's hot-swappable capabilities allow you to quickly replace a drive. This recorder automatically detects attached Sony network cameras. Subsequently, a dedicated setup wizard takes you through a step-by-step process of configuring these cameras, reducing the time required for system installation.

RAID Technology to Prevent Disk-Failure Data Loss
The hard disk storage units of the NSR-500 are configured with high redundancy. They feature RAID implementations and hot-swappable capabilities to protect important data against hard disk failure.
Replacement for Existing Digital Video Recorders
With optional NSBK-EB05 Analog Encoder Board (sold separately), the NSR-500 can replace digital video recorders (DVRs) in a CCTV surveillance system, which can be used with existing analog cameras.
Optional Licenses for Future System Expansion
The optional NSBK-CL05 (sold separately) allows you to add extra licenses, so you can connect up to 24 network cameras to a single NSR-500 (including the original 16 cameras).
Backward System Compatibility
The NSR-500 can be used with Sony's existing recording systems, such as the NSR-1000 Series, and RealShot Manager Advanced, through the RealShot Manager Advanced client.
