On-Stage MBS5000 Overview

The MBS5000 is a professional articulating mic boom that provides just the right counterbalance for popular broadcast microphones or other devices weighing up to 3.5 pounds. It can be used in studio environments and allows for quiet, easy, and repeatable positioning for on-air broadcast and webcast applications.

With square-tubing construction, the boom arm offers strength and a long service life. The preinstalled 10' XLR cable provides a neat clean look and the standard 5/8"-27 threading, which mates with common mic clips, offers plenty of room for a shockmount. Additionally, the MBS5000 comes with two mounting options: one is a removable C-clamp for desktops and the other is a screw-in flange mount for permanent desktop or overhead installations.

I bought this for a blue yeti mic i bought but the tilt arm at the end cant support the weight of the mic. If you have a very light mic then i would recommend this.

Good with one issue

Stand works great and mounts onto a desk with ease. The only issue I've had with it is tightening the chrome post that attaches to the mic. It doesn't clamp down tight enough (with enough resistance) to screw the mic on tightly. Had to use a pair of pliers to hold the chrome post when threading the mic one. Overall, good product for the price.

I love that it comes straight out the box assembled and with the two options to either clamp it down or screw it into the wall. I never recommend using OEM screws though as I always prefer toggle bolts when I can. This definitely beats all those pricey boom arms, and I would highly recommend this to everyone!

Excellent, Solid, Inexpensive Boom Arm

I purchased this boom arm because I could not bring myself to pay $100 for the PS1. I am using the Rode PodMic on it and it works very well. The PodMic is a heavy microphone and I have no issues positioning it wherever I want. I like the included XLR cable as it looks less messy with the cable compact with/inside the arm. The tension joints are tight and work very well. I have been using it now for 2 months as a teacher having to now teach online from home and I very much love it! I'm glad I saved the money rather than going with the PS1.

It does what it's meant do do

Great Value, Bad Product

I bought this boom arm whilst in the process of upgrading my home studio. I had upgraded from a USB powered mic to a dynamic mic with an XLR connection. So I thought, Hey! A boom arm with a built in XLR cable! 2 birds with 1 stone! For $50 no less! And I got exactly what I was looking for at a great value. But since this was my first boom arm, I didn't know what to look for. And after using this boom arm for several recording sessions I'm shocked that no one else has mentioned the fact that the external springs have no dampening or padding whatsoever. If you happen to accidentally bump the arm whole recording, the springs will emit a loud SPROING-KOING sound. And if your mic doesn't pick up the sound it may instead pick up the vibrations traveling up the arm from the springs. There were times that I absolutely made sure not to touch the boom arm, the table, or the desk during a recording. And yet, when double checking the playback I discover that the mic has picked up a violent spring sound from what I can only guess was the springs suddenly deciding to resettle themselves. And then there's the XLR cable. It's fine, it works. I haven't had a problem with it so far. But then I realized that, what I originally saw as a benefit, the fact that the cable was built INTO the boom arm obviously didn't help in situations where I needed a cable but no boom arm. Again, this was my only cable at the time. And obviously, I did not think about my needs through enough before purchasing. TL;DR Great value. But invest instead in a boom arm with internal springs and a separate XLR cable.

Works well, holds weight, needs force to tighten

Hey its cheap, and unlike other cheap booms, it actually holds heavy mics. On-Stage products have always worked well for me.

Asked by: Anonymous
The Yeti is mountable on this arm or a standard mic stand, however would require the optional Radius II mount.
