512GB PRO Elite USB 3.0 Flash Drive is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from The good and bad of a very small device with a huge storage I've been a PNY customer for a couple of years. I have purchased over a dozen 256gb and 128gb flash drives. This is my first 512gb model. No PNY drive has ever failed or stopped working. Here is my views of the advantages and disadvantages of their new PNY Pro Elite 512GB USB flash drive. ________FIRST, THE GOOD: 1. Being able to store about about a half a terabyte of memory on a small flash drive is amazing. 2. Metal construction makes the device appear solid and sturdy. 3. Key ring slot is sturdy and appears that it will hold up longer than their all plastic flash drives. Several of their 128gb and 256gb flash drive key ring slots have broken on me. 4. For the price, it is a very good value. ________NOW THE BAD: 1. Drive properties shows only 470 Gigabytes available. This is true under its default NTFS file format or my preferred exFat drive formatting. 2. Gets hot after several minutes of continuing file copying. The heat doesn't interfere with its operation, however. 3. The metal construction makes it a little heavier than all plastic drives. ________THE BOTTOM LINE Even at 470Gb, this flash drive is still a very good value and offers an amazing amount of storage in a very small package. ==> I recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent high storage flash drive I bought this drive to transfer my 128GB SanDisk Extreme Pro SDXC cards while on vacation. It didn't take long till fill it right up. The transfer speed varies from about 165mbs-400mbs but quickly settles down to around 180mbs and is very steady meaning nice even data transfer of 4K video from my RX10 MK3 . I was pleasantly surprised to find its made of all metal no plastic here..I'm guessing to distribute heat evenly it does get warm but not hot and from what I can tell looks to be well designed and high quality fit and finish not like the cheap plastic USB 3.0 thumb drives most of us have. I will definitely buy more as it works great is fast and very well built. My only complaint and it seems to be with all the PNY drives is that the connector is not shielded from dirt or debris and is open all the time, it does retract flush but is still open to dirt and dust. I put a small piece of electrical tape on it when transporting it to protect the contact. If your thinking about buying one give it a try you will not be disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay Away! After one week, the drive is unusable 1st week with this drive was great. Quick transfer rates of large amount of data, in a small compact form. After the 1st week the drive started to fail. Went into read/only mode and only was able to be resurrected by repartitioning the drive. After a couple of times of that the drive just stopped responding. It would get hot quickly and would start to act up. Looking at the PNY website this device is not even listed there. Suspect that these may not be real or that the manufacturer even stopped providing them. Don't have original packaging so unable to return.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money Excellent build quality, feels very sturdy. BUT it's too slow, overheats quickly and doesn't work well with iOS. I've lost many important files because of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for large files Reformatted to NTFS as window10 not like exFAT. I moved 13 full Blu-ray movies at speed of 175mb. Not scorching fast but 5 minutes to move 30gig file.............. So far happy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Drive overheats and is unreliable!! While loading up >350GB of work files, this drive started to slow down, pause, and eventually disconnected as it got warm. Once cooled off, the drive started to work again, but intermittently caused long pauses when loading files. I obviously do not recommend this drive. I have previously usedKingston Digital HyperX Predator DataTraveler 512GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive with great results. Unfortunately I did not save the packaging for the drive, so I am not able to return.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Capacity but...slowwwww I like the 512GB capacity but the speed is rather disappointing. It takes a long time for it to mount and then even longer to index contents. It would be a ridiculous attempt to use this for anything but a safety backup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank you for my excellent PNY 512 flash drive I really enjoy my recent purchase of PNY 512 flash drive. It is exactly what I needed for movies and pictures. I look forward to making more purchases in the future.
