A compact prime designed for macro photography, the EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM from Canon is a 44.8mm-equivalent lens designed for APS-C-format EF-M-mount mirrorless cameras. Characterized by its 1.2x maximum magnification and 3.7" minimum focusing distance, this sleek lens is further distinguished by its integrated Macro Lite LED to provide additional illumination to close-up subjects. Aiding its ability to reproduce small subjects at greater than life size, the optical design incorporates one UD element and two aspherical elements to reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations in order to provide a high degree of sharpness and clarity.

Benefitting the optical attributes is a Hybrid IS image stabilization system that serves to minimize the appearance of camera shake for sharper results when working handheld and in difficult lighting conditions. A lead screw-type STM stepping motor also benefits handling by producing fast, smooth, and quiet autofocus performance to suit both stills and video applications. This AF motor can be manually overridden at any time by turning the dedicated focusing ring for making fine-tuned adjustments. Additionally, suiting the sleek stature of the Canon EOS M-series of cameras, this lens also sports a lightweight form factor and retractable design.

A normal-length prime, this macro lens is designed for EF-M-mount APS-C-format mirrorless cameras and provides a 44.8mm equivalent focal length.
One Ultra Low Dispersion element is used to control chromatic aberrations and two aspherical elements are also featured, including one double-sided aspherical element, to minimize spherical aberrations for increased clarity and sharpness.
A maximum magnification of 1.2x is afforded for slightly greater-than-life size shooting at a minimum focusing distance of 3.7" using the Super Macro setting.
The built-in front-facing Macro Lite LED can be used to provide additional illuminations to subjects when working at close distances. The light can be configured to illuminate only the right or left side, or both sides, in order to produce greater visual depth and reduce shadows caused by the close proximity of the lens to the subject.
Hybrid IS image stabilization minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper imagery when shooting handheld.
Lead-screw-type STM stepping motor offers fast, quiet, smooth, and accurate autofocus performance that is ideal for video recording as well as still shooting.
Full-time manual focus mode (AF+MF) lets you instantly switch to manual focus control in AF mode for making fine-tuned adjustments.
Compact and lightweight overall form factor is aided by a retractable design for a more sleek profile during travel and storage. Additionally, the acute lens top shape, which is narrower than the main lens body, also helps to prevent casting shadows on close-up subjects.
Included lens hood is threaded to accept 43mm filters.

This is a beautiful lens for the price. It has become my favorite lens in the camera bag, lightweight, and the built-in light ring around the lens is an excellent feature of this lens.

I have the L series 100mm macro, and that lens is impossible to beat. It's also heavy like a rock, and huge. Can you get very worthwhile results from a lens too small to be in that L class? In this case, yes. This lens gets you into that world where small stuff is like mountains--behaves like big stuff. For all those occasions where you want to explore with a rig that weighs less than a pound, this does it.

The built in light is an awesome feature. The image quality is crisp and clear. The bokeh is beautiful and soft. The biggest challenge I have is getting my subject in focus. At a low aperture and close up you won't be able to get a whole strawberry in focus and that's not even using the super macro feature. The super macro feature does require you to be *ridiculously* close. I wouldn't even bother using the feature without a lens protector. Which brings me to the worst feature of the lens - you can't use a protector without using the hood. Overall, it's a great lens that I've been able to take beautiful pictures with. I feel I received good value for my money.

I am a total novice but this thing makes me look like I know what I'm doing! Super easy setup - just attach it to your camera, point, and shoot! The built-in LED lighting is perfect, you may need additional lighting for low-light situations depending on what you're shooting.

Super sharp images, Super Macro mode is like a microscope (best with a tripod), and f/3.5 works great with IS... Ring light works wonders in darkness. Perfect go-to lens for M6 Mark II.

Compact, tack sharp 28mm prime lens & Macro capability makes this lens an exceptional value for your variety of M camera. The addition of a variable built in ring light is the icing on the cake. Besides being tiny and light and sharp, It's just plain fun to walk around exploring different macro targets without a cumbersome speedlite and difuser weighing you down. No buyer remorse on this lens-trust me.

Would this fit on a C200?

Yes, the Canon EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM Lens will focus out to infinity. The lens has a minimum focus distance from 3.66 (9.3 cm) out to infinity for its maximum focusing distance.

The issue with having another light is the lens can cast a shadow. So having the light on the lens you will not have that problem.

No, the Canon EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM Lens will not work on the Canon Rebel T6. That 28mm Canon lens is specifically made for the Canon mirrorless M cameras, and at this point their are no adapters available EF-M to EF-S.

Would you recommend this lens for photographing artwork? I am choosing between this one and the EF-M 22mm prime by canon

The 22mm would give you a slightly wider angle-of-view, which might be helpful when photographing large artwork in tighter spaces. The advantage of the 28mm macro would be that if you are photography very fine detail (e.g. strokes in an oil painting, detail in sculpture/ceramic, etc) but if you have enough space in your studio, the 28mm might work as well.
