20.2MP CMOS Sensor and DIGIC 4+ Image Processor
The 20.2MP 1/2.3" CMOS sensor produces high-resolution imagery that, when paired with the DIGIC 4+ image processor, exhibits notable clarity and sensitivity to ISO 3200, as well as a top continuous shooting rate of 7.1 fps. The sensor and processor work together to create Canon's HS SYSTEM, which is able to produce clear, rich imagery in dimly-lit situations with minimal noise and vivid detail.

Beyond still image recording, the SX620 HS is also capable of recording Full HD 1080p video at 30 fps, which is easily accessible via a dedicated movie button.
25x Zoom Lens and Intelligent Image Stabilization
An expansive 25x optical zoom lens offers a wide-angle to super telephoto equivalent focal length range of 25-625mm to suit working with a wide variety of subjects. This extensive reach is complemented by a versatile Intelligent IS image stabilization system that minimizes the appearance of camera shake for both stills and video shooting:

Stills:
  • Normal IS corrects for a wide range of common camera movements.
  • Panning IS detects deliberate panning movements and does not compensate for lateral movements to permit desired camera movements.
  • Macro (Hybrid) IS corrects for shift-type camera shake that commonly occurs when working with close-up subject matter.
  • Tripod is a dedicated setting that automatically deactivates IS when the use of a tripod is detected since camera-based stabilization is not needed.

Video:
  • Dynamic IS is well-suited to recording at wide-angle focal lengths and reduces unwanted shaking that typically occurs when walking while recording.
  • Powered IS compensates for hand movements that become more visually discernible when working at the telephoto end of the zoom range.
  • Macro (Hybrid) IS minimizes the appearance of shake when walking as well as compensates for shift-type shake that occurs when working with close-up subject matter.
  • Active Tripod IS minimizes the slight amount of shake that can happen when recording video while using a tripod.
Built-In Wi-Fi with NFC
Built-in Wi-Fi with NFC allows you to wirelessly share your photos and movies with a linked smartphone or tablet as well as remotely control the camera from the mobile device by using the Camera Connect app. A dedicated Wi-Fi button is also featured on the camera body to expedite the process of connecting with a smartphone or tablet and sharing imagery between devices.
Other Camera Features
  • A large 3.0" 922k-dot LCD monitor is available for composing imagery, navigating the menu, and reviewing photos and videos.
  • The Auto Zoom feature helps to maintain consistent compositions and framing accuracy, as well as sharp focus, when working with distant subjects by automatically zooming in or out.
  • Creative Shot modes help to transform your original imagery into creative and unique works using a system of 46 in-camera filters, which are grouped within Retro, Monochrome, Special, and Natural categories. Once the original image has been taken, the camera will automatically produce five additional variations using this series of filters.
  • Hybrid Auto will record short video clips prior to recording a still image, and then automatically compile them into one HD 720p video file to produce a highlight reel of a shooting session.
  • Smart AUTO intelligently selects the proper camera settings based on recognized shooting situations.

I need a compact, lightweight camera that can fit into my purse, so i can use it without pulling out or needing a smartphone. I also needed a sharp-quick camera, without shutter lag, and wifi capable to share pictures. the only problem was the steep price

Color is too "acid" - Overexposed?

By Patricia

I bought this camera in April 2021 and stalled on submitting this review to allow for sufficient testing. I bought the SX620 for travel photos -- mostly landscapes and people outdoors. I count on a camera that I can open quickly and use on automatic while I'm on the move, generally hiking or climbing. The SX620 has been deeply disappointing. Photos taken with my iPhone5 are far superior. There are a few positives, but the negatives - including the essential picture quality - outweigh them. Positives: Size: This is bigger ("thicker") than my last camera, but still slim enough to fit in a small space. The grip is decent; I can hold it and turn it one with one hand. Shooting one-handed is a bit harder, but possible. Shutter is fast in daylight. Battery life seems good, though I have not been on a major trip where I would be taking hundreds of photos in a day. This is important, since the battery cannot be charged from a portable power bank (see below). Negatives: Photo quality on automatic is poor. All photos have a sort of "acid" color to them. I don't know if it's a color issue or perhaps the automatic setting is mis-calibrated and is overexposing everything. Greens, in particular, seem off; no matter the season, they appear to be spring green. The battery must be removed for charging; the supplied charger must be plugged into the wall. A portable power bank cannot be used. The product description refers to a USB cable, but the cable is only for transferring photos to a computer, not for charging, and in any case is not included. The flash is slow to activate and recover. Instructions include pages on how to connect to a computer (for transferring photos), requiring a cable that's not included. Such a cable would be useful only if you don't have a device with a memory card slot. I shopped for at least a year and read a lot of review before making this purchase, but did not read of poor color quality. Maybe I got a defective camera? Whatever the case, the most expensive point-and-shoot camera I've ever bought is not the one I reach for when I want great photos.

Asian model received

I really like the camera but was very frustrated to realize it us Asian model - set for Japanese, which I eventually got changed to English, but the owners manual is also in Japanese. So it is useless to me and my only option is PDF version, which us only helpful when I am at home. It does me no good if I am out in nature and would like to consult the manual. If it is an overseas model this should be clearly marked on the website.

Sent the camera with a Japan only label on.

Opened the camera and found that the instruction manual was completely in Japanese. The menu and in screen info was also in Japanese. I had a chat with them and the rep said It says imported on the website. If you read the disclaimer under imported, it says the product is the same sold in America. Clearly not! Now I have to pay $10 to send it back. Not buying from this company again.

A gifted Canon PowerShot HS Camera

I gifted my wife this camera and she has been slowly learning to use it. So far we are satisfied with the quality of the images the camera is producing, our biggest complaint is the lack of a user-friendly manual that should be included. Having to rely on our computer to access the manual is time consuming and extremely inconvenient.

Not what was advertised

First, this camera was not advertised as used. I certainly would have thought twice about buying it. It came in an open box. Also, all of the language is chines or japanese and there is absolutely no way to change the language. I don't even think it's an option, and I've tried several ways and looked at the online manual (the one that actually came with the camera was in Chinese. My trip is in a week and I'm not going to have a camera.
