Designed for professional NAS users who need better support for multitasking, and increasing business dynamics, the DiskStation DS916+ 4-Bay NAS Enclosure from Synology helps users cope with rapidly growing amounts of data. It is equipped with four drive bays that are capable of natively supporting 3.5" SATA III 6 Gb/s and SATA II 3 Gb/s hard drives, as well as 2.5" SATA III 6 Gb/s and SATA II 3 Gb/s hard drives and SSDs. Using its four drive bays, this NAS will allow you to store and share a large number of files, including videos, music, photos, and documents with up to 2,048 user accounts and 2,048 maximum concurrent connections. For those who increased capacity for their DS916+, the DX513 expansion unit provides an additional five drive bays.
The DS916+ runs on Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) OS, which is a browser-based operating system which helps to simplify managing your Synology NAS. Its CPU is a 1.6 GHz Intel Pentium N3710 Quad-Core (64-bit) with a burst speed of up to 2.56 GHz and its 8GB of DDR3 RAM allows frequently-used files and applications to be quickly accessed. The NAS is capable of achieving encrypted read speeds of over 225 MB/s and encrypted write speeds of over 209 MB/s. It features three USB 3.0 ports and one eSATA port which allow it to be connected to your Windows, Mac, or Linux system. Network connectivity is achieved via the dual integrated Gigabit Ethernet ports, each of which is equipped with link aggregation and failover support, allowing your stored data to be shared with users throughout the network. Data may also be made remotely available through the free iOS and Android applications.
Using the integrated media server on the DS916+, you have the ability to stream digital multimedia content from the DiskStation to media devices for local or remote playback. You may also stream movies and music to a DLNA compatible device to enjoy your favorite movies or shows stored on the DiskStation.
For those who require RAID support, the DS916+ supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10, as well Synology Hybrid RAID and Basic RAID, each of which offers performance, data redundancy, or a combination of both. For those who do not require a RAID, JBOD is also available, allowing each drive bay to be individually utilized.
The DS916+ is also engineered to be energy efficient. Not only does it offer dual 92 x 92mm fans with a smart airflow design to keep the system running cool at all times, its noise dampening design of 19.4 dB(A) makes for quiet operation. The server supports numerous scheduled power on / off cycles and hard drive hibernation to further minimize power consumption and operation expenses.
The Synology DiskStation DS916+ 4-Bay NAS Enclosure operates on 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz and includes an accessory pack, a 100W AC power adapter, an AC power cord, and two LAN cables. It is protected by a limited 3-year warranty.

Backup Data in Multiple Ways
Data Protection and Integrity
Fast & Efficient Snapshots
Snapshots preserve the history of a shared folder allowing you to save up to 1,024 backup copies for point-in-time recovery. Snapshots can be automatically captured up to every 5 minutes, without noticeably impacting system performance
Metadata Mirroring and Survivability
Btrfs file system stores two copies of critical metadata on a volume, improving the availability and ensuring the integrity of your file system
Corruption Detection and Correction
Btrfs generates checksums for data and metadata, and then verifies the checksums during each read process to ensure the integrity of the filesystem and files. If the file system discovers a mismatch, metadata will be repaired to keep file system consistent. In the meantime, corrupted files will be reported and logged
Customizable Quotas for Shared Folders
With Btrfs, you can specify a storage limit for each shared folder, making it possible to precisely control space consumption when multiple teams or departments save files on the same Synology NAS server
