I heard this is good mic but my voice sounds really bad with it. I need to remove 10dB on 160Hz. Really disapointed

First tests of this mic were impressive

I am a professional videographer and needed another Lavalier (pendant) microphone for interviews and random remote nature audio. I have only begun using this particular mic but was really impressed at the clarity & quality within the pick up range. I may get another one if future tests support these initial findings.

Great purchase

This mic produces excellent quality sound. I use it mainly indoors so I have not been able to test whether or not the wind is a factor for outdoor shoots. I shoot video with a 55mm lens, and the cable is plenty long to accommodate the distance to the subject. I also shot a video in a vacant home that would normally come with a lot of echo from the high ceilings and wood floors, however the echo was not noticeable using this microphone. I'm very happy with this purchase and I would buy it again!

Cable is 98 inches, not 16 feet as advertised.

We tested the microphone. The cable was too short for our purposes. We ordered it because it is advertised as being 16 feet, which is 192 inches. Actually, it is closer to 98 inches, as indicated in the spec sheet included in the container. So, we're missing 94 inches - that's a lot when you're shooting video. Incidentally, it does not come in the container pictured, either. The sound was not bad at all. The cable was thinner (had a stringy feel, or more like thread) than we had anticipated and was inclined to tangle. There was some noise during movement, which we suspect is the connection - not unexpected when the mic is not XLR. Our real issue, of course, is that it was so short it hung like a laundry line from the talent to the camera. Not a good look. Even so, if a cable of the actual 98 inch length will suit you (like in making a talking head video very close to camera), this is not a bad microphone for direct DSLR connection.

When you need your audio to count!

So this is our second VT506 and I can say that for the price and quality its hard to beat! Ive used it when there was a gas generator behind my interviewee and you could barely even hear it. There are others options out there, but these mics have worked great for us. I highly recommend them!

Asked by: richard
This mic can be used with an iPhone XS Max, but you would require a Rode SC4 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Adaptor, B&H # ROSC4 and an Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter, B&H # APLAADAP in order for it to connect to the iPhone. .
