Metz AF-2 overview

  • 1Description

Enhanced with an adjustable LED video light , this mecablitz 44 AF-2 Digital Flash from Metz is a great addition to any Fujifilm camera kit. This model is compatible with the system's TTL metering for accurate, automatic control over light output, though it still offers full manual control for those who desire it. With a guide number of 144' at ISO 100 and 105mm and a zoom head with a range of 24-105mm, this flash is able to balance size with versatility. For wider optics, a pull-out diffuser panel can expand the coverage to 12mm. The head also boasts the ability to tilt upwards 90° and rotate right 120° and left 180°.

When working with a compatible camera, the 44 AF-2 can be set to first or second curtain sync in order to more appropriately utilize your flash in certain situations. It also runs on four AA batteries which can provide a recycle time of 0.1-4 seconds. And, as a bonus this unit features a USB port so that users can update the firmware for enhancements and compatibility later on.

    Metz AF-2 reviews

mecablitz 44 AF-2 Digital Flash for Fujifilm Cameras is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good relatively compact flash, incredibly easy to use Extremely easy to use. I was concerned about buying a dumbed-down flash but the simplicity is elegant. I use it for interiors and there's plenty of power. Switching modes & output level (in manual) is so fast it's almost genius. Build quality is pretty good, not superb. I take good care of my gear so I'm not too concerned about how bad a beating it will take. The battery door is configured in such a way that you'll never lose it or break it. I gave it only 4 stars because the flash does not use a locking lever but the old screw method of tightening the flash to the hot-shoe. The description says it locks because there is a pin that goes into a hole on the hot-shoe to prevent it from slipping, but it sure would be a whole lot better if it had a lever locking mechanism like most OEM flashes (this didn't come as a shock to me as the ad picture shows a screw lock). It has actually come loose on me twice.
