Corsair K70 LUX RGB overview

  • 1Description

Game all day and all night long with the K70 LUX RGB Mechanical Keyboard from Corsair. This keyboard is constructed from aircraft-grade anodized brushed aluminum and features Cherry MX RGB Brown switches, which have a clear base that lets the RGB LED lighting really shine through to make colors pop. Combined with Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) software that lets you adjust color, speed, patterns, and more, you'll have access to an unlimited amount of customization possibilities. Additionally, each key is individually programmable and supports macro functionality so you can program it to do all the hard work for you.

The K70 LUX RGB comes with FPS and MOBA keycaps as well as a detachable soft-touch wrist rest for extended comfort. The keycaps are textured and contoured to provide maximum grip during intense gaming sessions while anti-ghosting and full N-key rollover ensures that it won't miss a beat. Located at the top right corner are multimedia controls for quick volume adjustments and more. The K70 LUX RGB connects to your system via standard USB cable and provides you with a USB pass-through port, great for additional gaming peripherals or quick thumb drive access.

Cherry MX RGB Brown Switches
Mechanical keyboards utilize a different type of key switch technology for a more durable and unique typing experience. The Cherry MX RGB Brown switch has an actuation force of 55g and offers a small tactile bump when pressed, letting you know that the key has registered. This can be useful for typing or preparing for a movement while gaming. Unlike Cherry MX Blue switches, these do not have an audible "click" mechanism, allowing for a quieter operation. Noise generated from this keyboard will be from the key either springing back into place or "bottoming out" – making contact with the back plate after a particularly hard press.
RGB Lighting
Built with Cherry MX RGB switches, you'll be able to experience dynamic, vibrant multi-color backlighting that's customizable to your preferences.
Anti-Ghosting, Full N-Key Rollover
Equipped with anti-ghosting and full N-key rollover technology, the Corsair K70 LUX RGB won't miss a beat no matter how fast you are.
Aluminum Frame
The Corsair K70 LUX RGB is constructed from aircraft-grade anodized brushed aluminum making it both lightweight and durable.
Keycap Sets + Wrist Rest
The Corsair K70 LUX RGB comes with FPS and MOBA keycap sets as well as a detachable soft-touch wrist rest. These keycaps are textured and contoured for maximum grip and enhanced feel.
Dedicated Multimedia Controls
Quickly control your audio settings without leaving your game by using the dedicated multimedia controls. A volume up/down scroll wheel simplifies volume adjustments.
USB Pass-Through Port
Get a USB port back with the USB pass-through port. This port is positioned to be out of your way and can be used to connect additional gaming peripherals.
Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) Software
To fully utilize the macro and lighting functionality of the Corsair K70 LUX RGB, you'll have to download the CUE software. You'll also be able to save profiles and load custom patterns for your favorite games. Some of the lighting patterns available are as follows:

  • Static Lighting - Changes any key on the keyboard to a color and brightness setting of your choice.
  • Color Cycling - Cycle through multiple colors with your choice of speed and color palettes. You can set either the whole keyboard to scroll, or just the keys you want.
  • Waves and Ripples - Customize the color palette, direction, duration, and velocity, and have the wave flow across the entire keyboard, or just the keys you want.
  • Reactive Typing - Set up single-key reactive typing, or create a multi-key ripple effect. You can choose single-layer lighting where keys light up as you type, or multi-layer and have the keys change color.

    Corsair K70 LUX RGB reviews

K70 LUX RGB Mechanical Keyboard is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Layout isn't reasonable for me Having the number functions $# etc, under the numbers and poorly lit is a poor idea (for me anyway). The tricked out silly throbbing LED functions are useless and distracting. CUE is garbage software. When the devices (mouse & keyboard by Corsair) are logged off, they do not move the mouse. I assume it's a driver bug. I'll be returning these and getting another brand this week. KBD: The layout feels unnatural, moreso than any other keyboard I've used. Heights of things that are always in the way like the space bar is too high, other keys are too low. The 4 adjusters are a good idea, but not implemented to have more than a single adjustment. Something like the Das KBD has a much better feel (and costs more but even a cheap logitech has a better feel).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How every keyboard should be I had an old Logitech Cordless MX Duo 967300-0403 from May 2004 that started acting up. I tried several of the Logitech non-gaming keyboards and they all felt cheap with their rounded off key caps. I heard about these Cherry MX mechnical switches and some reviews pointed to Das keyboards and they looked nice, but the lack of backlighting was a huge turnoff (I just logged onto their website and see that they have a new model with backlighting). By profession, I'm an IT consultant and not a gamer at all, so the outrageously shaped keyboards aren't my thing. In the end, it came down to this keyboard and the Logitech G810. Supposedly, the G810 backlighting is way better, but I think the K70 LUX RGB is perfectly fine. I wish they still made the older K70 RGB as I wasn't a fan of the huge typeface on the keys, but I'm ok with it. Also not a fan of the reverse placement of the symbols on the number keys, but whatever. There is discussion on Corsair's forums about them making double shot key caps and one of the requests for for a normal font and regular symbol placement...we'll see. All in all, this keyboard is a pleasure to type on. I'm still getting used to it as I also work on a Macbook Pro with it's chicklet keypad. These keys sit a lot higher so I sometimes mush more than one key. The Corsaid software is easy enough to use and create keyboard macros (I mapped the number pad, which I rarely use), which has really helped with mundane tasks like inserting a key sequence into each Excel cell. Overall, very happy with the purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product BUT no manual for software The keyboard itself is very nice, but BEWARE, there is no official documentation for the software it uses (CUE 2). The only available manual is for v1.0. If you dig around in the forums you can find a user created manual and some tutorials. I would have given this another star except for this lack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Keyboard I have been using the K70's since they came out. I am a big fan of the build quality and the layout. The USB passthrough and the volume roller are nice touches. Keyboards are a very personal preference from switches to layout, so if you can try it before you buy it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of the best mechanical keyboards Great mechanical keyboard with excellent features. Keyboard software could be easier to use. Installation instructions could be better as well. Use Corsair Forums for best support answers. I would buy this keyboard again. Cherry MX does make the best switches!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great keyboard Outstanding build quality and love the downloadable color profiles. This is my first mechanical keyboard and went with MX browns. I would get this again without hesitation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice swirl effect I am enjoying being able to see my keys, again, after wearing the silver paint off my last keyboard and having mostly black keys to type with. This is the keyboarding I like.
